Norman, Ok
I'll share my peanut butter sandwich with you :)

Why thank you m'Lady...

... I was just able to muster the strength to fix something myself... Actually, after recalling Ag's past exploits in fixing dinner that she'd shared with us here... I decided I wasn't really as excited in seeing the firemen as Ag's would have been... :D

I'm as proud as I was when I was 13 and learned my first chord. I learned (am learning) a favorite piece from one of my favorite guitarists. Jimmy Page was just a phenomenal guitarist (and still is), no other way to put that. Most people think of Led Zeppelin and think of Robert Plant. I don't. Everything they gave us in the late 60's and early/mid 70's would NOT have happened without Page. Page WAS Zeppelin. I just finished a biography of Page, which inspired me to look into stuff I never tried. Look, if you're a guitarist, attempting Page's stuff (even his early session work) is like trying to drive an 18 wheeler when you've just mastered a tricycle. So. I've always LOVED Kashmir. But...it was a thing I never even attempted, because, well, you just don't try to emulate Page, and especially so, with Kashmir. It's in a modal Celtic tuning, one he referred to as his CIA tuning: Celtic, Indian, African.
I "pretty much" got it down tonight, though it WILL take a bit to polish and smooth it. But...I'm still psyched! Guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks...

(BTW, if anyone else appreciates Page, you've GOT to check out the documentary "It Might Get Loud" from a couple years ago. Filmaker brought together Page, Jack White and Edge, and just filmed them talking and playing. Really great stuff!)
