Last weekend... I got to skip mowing the lawn since it'd slowed down it's growth... but...
Over the last week, despite the fall like temps here... we also got over 3" of rain. I guess I should feel lucky, my Folks which are 30 miles to the NW of me got at least 5+". Anyway, the lawn was in need of another trim after all. In addition, the neighbors next door are holding a wedding for their daughter... so even if it hadn't been in much need of a mow, I'd have gone over it just so it'd look a little nicer for the wedding.
So despite my hopes of not needing to mow again this year... this is done once again.

i visit another forum that uses this same engine (or what ever you call it) and the folks on there use the optimistic button for sympathy/empathy as well, so i imagine it will happen here tooI'm going to enjoy having more options now than just a "like" button... although, I would like also to have a sad and/or sympathy option to click on...
I found a really good seasoning mix for probably most meats...
This is almost the same as what my grocery store is using on some of the preseasoned meats that I mentioned liking so much a while back. While the first ingredient on the list isn't the course ground black pepper ( or cracked pepper )... it's certainly the one that stands out the most. The rest of the seasonings seem to be there to support and build upon that.
The ingredients as listed on the label.... garlic, black pepper, red and green bell pepper, onion and brown sugar. The garlic and onion are powdered and the red/green bell pepper are flakes.
It's missing some paprika IMO... and if I were to guess, probably a sweet one instead of a smokey one. I always add the amount of salt I want, so it's probably just as well that it has none so people will have a choice. I also think some sweet basil would be good. For that matter, used as a base you could go in a Italian, Mexican, BBQ or any other direction from there and really kick things up a lot with something like this. Making your own from fresh herbs and spices would be even more flavorful.

Came across something today that I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know before. I'm thinking Moonie would be aware, and maybe RD too (and others, I'm sure). Anyway, wife dragged me to a somewhat local Goodwill today. While she peruses the ENTIRE (like for hours!) store, I gravitate to the books and CDs. Found some books. But...picked up a CD for $1.99. Eric Johnson, Ah Via Musicom. I heard of him years ago, of course, but never paid attention or listened because I thought, eh, he's just another shredder, metal, and not to my particular taste. Wow, was I wrong. AMAZING guy. I'd heard Cliffs Of Dover, but never really accredited it to him, or paid much attention. What a great musician. Track 5 is a real great rockabilly type thing, reminds me of Carl Perkins, Jeff Beck, James Burton, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochrane, and dare I say, Elvis's guitarist Scotty Moore.
