Looks as if I've got another busy day ahead...

I've got the rest of the parts for another custom build coming in. This one is an odd one, with the exception of a refurb CPU which I was unable to source as new, it's all new but it's going to be running Windows 98SE of all things. The client primarily uses the DOS version of AutoCad to do most of his design work in, then takes the old format and converts it into the new version file afterwords. He says he can work 3-5x faster this way. Either way, it's his money and my job to get him what he'd like as long as that is possible. Up to this point, I've had to nurse and resurrect old computers that he'd found here and there, moving his data each time he found a different computer which has cost him more than what a new one would have cost had he just done it when I first recommended it. Of course, it's been a nice little bit of job security for me... but has really sucked for him I'm sure.

I'm also crossing my fingers that FedEx decides to try and deliver my ex-GF's new smartphone today instead of waiting until Monday as they have it ETA'd now. She had been on a assisted service where she was able to only pay around $10 a month with no data, up until the assistance went away recently. Now she's paying $35 for unlimited talk/text and 250Mb of data... only after she reaches 2500 minutes of talk time, she has to reup her minutes ( for free ) and gets only another 100 minutes... So basically she has to jump through hoops just to be able to keep talking. The Sprint service will be a prepaid account like hers is currently, unlimited talk/text and 1Gb of data which falls back to a slower speed after she uses the 1Gb up without costing extra, and still the same $35 a month.

Good evening y'all, hope we've all had a great Friday! :D:banana::D

Moonwater, I heard that Bruce was celebrating a birthday as I was getting off work this morning, thought of you for some strange reason. I've heard "Because the Night" by Patti Smith, but this was the first time I heard Bruce do it. Not bad at all!

jmur, I like the sound of what you posted earlier. Sucks that everything shut down on you before you could save it like you wanted it. It sounds great as it is though!

What an evening for pizza N ice cream. My dad came through town on the way home from Oklahoma earlier today, and we had lunch at Texas Roadhouse. So needless to say, I'm still kinda full from lunch. That just means more pizza N ice cream for y'all!

well, he did write it. if your so inclined do a google video search, you'll find quite a few vids of it, different versions. I was always partial to the live late seventies versions by bruce, the long instrumental parts i really like, bruce shredding the guitar while the fellow e streeters pumomg hard behind him.

mid/late seventies is when i think bruce was at his best, confidence from starting to get recognition & respect, but still very hungry, still had something to prove, as opposed to maintain

Now that I've heard Bruce do it, it does sound like his style. Patti Smith put out a song called "Dancing Barefoot," it's pretty good if you ask me. Her version of "Because the Night" is good too. Just putting it out there.

Incidentally, tomorrow marks 25 years since Nirvana put out "Nevermind." To a guy who was in middle school at the time, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" blew my young mind.

yep Patti's version is pretty good, Her's was intended for a singles release, so it seems a little over produced, squeaky clean, radio friendly especially since my first experience with it was from Bruce's demos of it, still writing while recording, gritty & the band trying to find "the groove" & live versions of it where they just rock out, noting against Patti or her version, just my personal taste,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

and as far as Dancing Barefoot, a song i like a lot too, was covered by a little known Irish band rather well

Hi everybody. Hope you all are doing well. We ran into some rough stuff the last few weeks while moving we got robbed and they cleaned us out. Took about everything we had moved but our food. All our clothes (even my moth eaten unders), tools, and tons of other stuff. I broke down and had a cig. It had gotten to be more than I could handle. We are trying to recover, but really just barely getting by.

A station we get, out of Long Island, did a LONG run of Springsteen this afternoon. One, I hadn't heard before. The Ballad Of Jesse James, I believe. For about the last half of the song I would swear I was definitely hearing something the Stones did for Exile, and never released. Weird. I would have bet money it was the Stones. And believe me, I know my Stones...
