OK, here's the deal since the cat is partially out of the bag at work
I'm going back to the Stewarding Dept. the department I originally started with at the hotel. But this time as the supervisor.
Originally the job was for a Manager,,,,,,,, and here's where it gets funky. They decided they wanted Me for the job, everyone involved with it. Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Banquet Manager both of his supervisors, The F&B director, the guy who had the position and quit, well You get the point. Even Heather, remember Heather? My boss when i was in shipping/Receiving She even went in and told them to give Me the job.
According to HR, corporate didn't want to promote some one from Hourly who had no "management experience" directly into Management.
My nine years as the sole supervisor of the Banquet/Conference Set-up Dept perviously in another hotel wasn't good enough for 'em
So this is the plan they came up with, change the job form Manager to Supervisor and put Me at an hourly rate as opposed to the salary position that it would be if it was Management.
So now it's an hourly position with the expectation of 7 to 10 hours over time a week.
They are gonna reevaluate things in 3, maybe 6 months as well as enroll Me into the Wyndham Management Training Program and eventually make it a management position.
I hope this isn't just some song & dance to get things done at a cheaper rate, I guess time will tell. I have no real reason to believe this won't happen, but ya never know.
Even though I am just a supervisor, I will be doing all they expected form the managers position.
I did get a very nice raise per hour form what i'm getting now, but still falls a little short of wha i was expecting as a salaried employee.
I will be supervising/managing a five person crew.
Today was the last day of the pay period, so i'm thinking I'll take things over in two weeks.
