I've been messing with computers since 1982 (thank you VIC-20!).
35 years. In all that time I've NEVER once had a dream about a computer. Never. Last night I dreamt I was looking at the specs for a new desktop that was running Windows 11! And it was way cool. Think I'm gonna get it. RD, I'll let you know if I find any bugs...

The best laid plans.... and all of that...

I believe I'm going to try to get a shot of Jupiter tonight at around 11pm ( ish )... at least if the wind isn't too bad this evening.

My hopes aren't too high actually... the 'scope I've got isn't made for planet viewing so if I get something half decent I'll be lucky :)

I had a dream about a computer, so I built it.

WOW! Sweet Stuff! Details?
Love the liquid cooling configuration.
Just out of curiosity, what was the bottom line cost?

Ok... got some shots of Jupiter... I may be able to get enough contrast using a higher power lens but I didn't mess with that tonight... I did get 4 of it's Moons to show in the shot since I wasn't worried about being over exposed ( because there were no details of the bands on it showing anyway )

Whats up with that ( for the technical side )... For deep sky objects you want a fast lens ( low F-number )... but for planets it's just the opposite. A higher F-stop will give more contrast allowing details like the bands on Jupiter to show better. I could see them in the eyepiece when I was looking through it... but for the camera it's a different story. Once I get a motor drive ( so the image stays in frame long enough ), I'll be able to use higher power eyepieces which will also increase the contrast ( f-stop ) as well.

I've only got about $4.5K in it. A lot of that was spare parts I had on hand.

Here's a link to the Parts Breakdown and Cost
ASUS8

And here's a link to the Build Log
[Build Log] Thermaltake Tower 900 (ASUS8)

I just build for a hobby, except the two that I built for my Flight Simulator.
