    Guess I was right to worry bout the weight. We just lost the apple tree behind our house, that's been here since we bought the place, 30 yrs ago. Right now it's laying across my deck.....

    J if you use a smoker or Bar-B-Que save some of your tree for that it works great :2c:

    I hate seeing trees die, the only solace here is that it was natural causes. But I'm pretty sure the deck don't care why (i hope it's ok), only that it got smacked by tree.

    We had two apple trees in our yard in Jersey when i was growing up. One in the front and one in the back. The were green, sour apples and the were awesome!

    Yeah, hated to see this happen. Ours was a green apple too. Just meant a lot to me cause was the first thing I saw every morning. And in the spring, the blossoms were awesome. It WAS old (but then, so am I) and I prob should have had it taken down couple years ago, but just didn't have the heart to, after 30 years.
