Liquids are back online.
But here's the thing, although it's working, some results come back ambiguous. If you order liquid from me please either enter your date of birth or sum the last two digits of your social security number and add it to the comments of your order or your account details
To add to account details:
(log in > My Account (top of page) > Account Details > eliquid - Age Verification)
Log in and then click My Account at the top of the page
Click "Your Account Details"
Enter the two digits into this field:
Click the "Update My Details"
This lets me add this to the age verification if it's needed (90% of the time it is not), it is NO WAY divulges any information to me, all it does is give the age verification company a way to verify you are who you say you are if there is a similar name.
Here is my write up on it on the website:
As of 01/01/2013 we have implemented Age Verification for all eliquid sales.
As you know it is illegal to sell nicotine based products to anyone under the age of 18 in the United States. Brick and Mortar stores are required to check ID, this is similar.
To keep our industry healthy and to comply with the local and state and banking laws our system in now in place.
Age Verification does not require any more information than you already provide at checkout. We do not have any data on you and we cannot actually do the age verification, it is done on a secure server not tied directly to the order. No one is keeping any records of what you order, how much, or any credit card details.
Even though we do not require any additional information from you occasionally we will get an ambiguous response from the verification process, which means the system cannot verify a person's age, if this happens it will require a simple two digit number, in order to speed up any potential problems, we ask that you add the sum of the last two digits of your social security number to your order.
This is NOT required but it helps us in case there is an ambiguous response for the Age Verification system.
For example if your social security number is 123-45-6789 then you would ADD the last two digits 8+9 and the result would be 17
If your social security number is 987-65-4321 then you would ADD the last two digits 2+1 and the result would be 03 (or just "3")
Add the number to the comment section of the order, that's it.
You can also (or instead of) add your date of birth to the order comments if you like (again, not required)
This will ensure that your order will go through without any delays. In the event that your information does not automatically verify your age we would then be able to supply the verification system this number to verify you without getting any more private or identifying information from you.
You do not need to do this more than one time if you are a registered customer who has previously added that information.
The system only applies to eliquid and not to any non nicotine product on our website.
Note I opened it early it was supposed to be the 1st, but want to get it going.
I want to stress, this is not any invasion of privacy nor is it any way tied to your actual ss number, I do NOT keep any record of this and the results are just that results, they come back with "YES", "NO" or "Ambiguous", if it's the latter they then ask me for more verification like the sum of the last two ss numbers.
I really do not want to hold up anyone's order for this kind of thing so if you can, add the two digits to your account, if not, add it to the order. Adding it to your account saves me .32 every time you order liquids as you don't have to be verified again, and I won't have to delay the order in case it needs more verification so if you can, please do it.
Also, there is a field for date of birth, I know some people are really really hesitant to enter this, so this is also optional, but it is the gold standard, if you enter this, there are no issues whatsoever, so while I am not asking you to do it, it is the best option for me.
This is a slight pain in the .... but I need to do it to both keep my merchant account and to make sure we are all compliant and the FDA or whomever doesn't have a leg to stand on if they crack down.
This is an experiment for me, if it doesn't work out I will have to cancel liquid sales, it's not worth the aggravation and cost and potential loss of my business.
