I wanted to throw this out to the thread for thoughts.

Do you think we should start posting our general chit chat posts on the DV Fun thread instead of here? I suspect Eric might have more of a challenge pinging in on 'real issues' (DV related concerns or questions) trying to wade through all the general frivolity.

I know I am soooo guilty of this myself,
so please do not take this the wrong way

What do you think?

I think it's an excellent idea to use the DV Fun thread for the frivolity.

While I try to read all the posts, I've often lost issues in the fodder.

And as mentioned, it would certainly make Eric's life a lot easier, especially during his current situation where his time available to check this forum is limited.

A fertilizer plant caught fire and then blew up damaging a 5 block radius of homes from it. several people dead and they dont know how many injured and I heard the werds dallas ft worth along with West Texas

I'm pretty sure Sonic said he is in North Texas, the news says the fire is in West Texas. I have to google Waco to make sure, I think the fertilizer explosion happened near Waco.

EDIT: It's in between DFW and Austin, hopefully too far south to affect Sonic

If there is a separate DV fun thread, I think it should be used for just that. As for me, I've given up on even trying to read all the posts in this thread. I go to the last 2 or 3 pages and read those, skipping the vast majority of the new posts. So, I guess that I'm a party pooper also.

I was going to let this go, but there are now several posts about this. There is a thread specifically for customer support issues. I have posted on it, and the other threads for DV like "What are you buying from someone else." I would just like to quote Gormly himself on this matter (Post 11707):

I understand and appreciate the intent of the comments, but I would also hope that Gormly would ask it to be kept to a minimum if he thought his threads were being hijacked. It seems to me that he enjoys the community that is this thread.

I was spending some time w/the dogs (my roomie's 4 dogs as they are in Hawaii atm), and my mom called about the explosion, so I turned on the news, and got stuck watching for awhile. What a horrible horrible tragedy. I so feel for all those people. Last I heard they were evacuating the whole town in case any of the other chemical tanks explode. 50-75 homes destroyed & an apartment complex as well. Approx 60-70 fatalities estimated (including possibly 6-7 firemen who are missing that were trying to contain the fire that preceded the explosion), >100 people injured... just beyond awful for all of them. They were talking to one of the city council members there who said her pets were killed by the explosion and her house & her mom's house next door were both destroyed.

Anyway, I'm in the Dallas area (in North Texas), and this occurred in the town of West (in Central Texas), which is about 70 or so miles south of Dallas, a little over halfway to Waco (see map below). Like I said, I didn't even know about this until my mom called to see if I was watching the news.

My heart goes out to the folks of West, Texas tonight!

Yes, I'm sad for them too. There are just too many not good things happening right now. I feel for everyone involved in the Boston bombing and now for the Texas folks. I'm stuck watching the all-night news on television, and can't turn it off yet.
