I love snow now that I don't have to live through winters full of the stuff. Here in Vancouver, IF we by chance actually do get snow, it's usually in the middle of the night, and anything left in the morning is melted before noon. We have had the oddball 3 day storm, but it's been years since once of those.

OK...hope everyone is having a good day... mine is mixed...

KITTY UPDATE:
Took Tabbytha to the vet this morning (complete a mess in the carrier on the way) to provide another tissue sample to confirm the negative sample from Tuesday. Doc said that a late hit came in on her blood work and she has Feline AIDS. :( So he took another tissue sample and gave her a Valium shot (ride home was awesome, she just laid in her carrier and groomed! :) ). He gave me some pills to give her every three days to stimulate her appetite. He'll call when results are back, and we'll talk about treatment from there.

:( Oh no. Poor Tabbytha....I'm sorry to hear that Sonics. I wish I had some words of wisdom, but right now I just have no words. I feel so bad for you both. Am definitely interested in hearing about the treatment options, did feline aids used to go by a different name?

Thanks guys

She must have gotten infected when she was a stray. I found her when she was 3 (or 4, vet wasn't certain), so any number of things could have happened. She was already spayed, so that could have been catch & release or former owner got rid of her, or who knows what (Found Cat posters had no results). FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is spread through saliva via bites, so probably a fight with an infected cat (I've done some research today :) ). Since the FIV vaccination shows FIV-positive results for life, we wouldn't know if a true infection occurred until full-blown AIDS developed. On the plus side, they can live comfortably for years after diagnosis, I just have to keep vigilant about potential illnesses (and flea prevention), and be sure to keep her indoors and away from other cats. I pretty much do that already, just have to be more aware now. I'm not sure yet if the appetite stimulants will be long term, or just when she's mopey or something. I hope to find out more, both through research and talking more with the vet when he calls with the tissue sample results.

I actually do feel some relief now despite this; probably because now we know what's going on, and can devise a treatment.

She's been extra friendly today, and ate all her treats, and more food than in previous days - I'm sure thanks to the Valium shot earlier. :)

We'll see how it goes in the coming days & weeks... :)

Here's a picture from March. She's sleeping on the bathmat in the bathroom (her fave napping spot  ).

Lilac and Zooker - yes, I will take some snow right now please :D

Sonic, I'm sorry that Tabbytha has FIV, but it is far more common than most people know. Some research has said it is older than HIV, but I have no idea how they figured that one out or if it is even true. Anyway, I hope it's a bit of a relief and she feels better each day. I'll take one of those Valium shots until the mercury is under control :D

Thanks MM... Tabby says "Meow!"

She was practically screaming for food today! Gave her her treats this morning, and she wolfed 'em down, then I gave her her pill... not so much there. Had to dissolve it in water in the syringe and do it that way...she HATED it and looked at me like this :-x . Then about an hour later screaming at me again, so I gave her dry food, and she ate some of that, and an hour later screaming again, so I gave her canned, and she wolfed it down. Yay! And I saw her drinking water too. So far, so good! :D

 Yeah, kats and pills don't always mix good  I had to give a cat pills once after he got shot in the leg the poor thang. I had to put pressure on the sides of his jaw and shove that pill down his throat then rub his throat to get him to swallow it. ( That's the way the vet showed me, long time ago ) He never threw them up but it was terrible feeling to do that cuz you know he didn't like it :laugh: Tabbytha is lucky you do that the 'nice' way  Sounds like she mite be feeling better though and that's a good thing !:banana:

Yay Tabbytha! That's such a good sign that she's eating, makes me very happy to hear that, and I'm sure it makes you thrilled as well, Sonics. You are a good daddy, I'm so happy she has you to take care of her. She's an absolutely gorgeous girl, how cute is she all curled up on that rug!!

Mama, I got my MT3S's yesterday too, I haven't tried one yet, but they look like a giant Evod, I hope they have the same hit, I'm crazy for my Evods. Thanks so much Eric for stocking the 1300 mah spinners~~ I'm so happy to have one again! (lol, actually 2, so in case the hubby breaks one again, I'll have an instant backup!)

WOOHOO enjoy your weekend everyone!
