I have a question for anyone who knows about safety fuses for a mechanical or other mod.

I am having something made for DV, are these specs "good" or should they be adjusted:

over charge protection(4.275 V±0.025V), short cut protection, over discharge protection(2.50V±0.1V,) over current protection(4.5±0.5A).

resettable (stops when tripped, starts when problem is resolved)

If anyone knows an "expert" please ask them, I want to get the specs right for safe use with mods etcs..
I plan on giving them away free with mod purchases if I can get the rice down low enough and then making up for it with single sales

I sent a PM to a modder on ECF. He's really smart and makes beautiful DNA chip mods. Hopefully he'll respond :thumb:

Update:

No eVod batteries are affected by Kangers Recall! If you have purchased eVods from DiscountVapoers you have safe batteries and there is no cause for concern or return.

We are all safe!

YAY! Thank you so much, Eric, for looking into it! That is awesome news for all of us with EVODS to wake up to! :)

Good morning, everyone!

I sure hope you all had a better night than I did! I woke up around 7 PM feeling really lightheaded and dizzy. Couldn't even walk on my own and was having some convulsions. Spent 5 hours in the ER, from 9 PM - 2 AM, due to dehydration and UTI! Of course, they tested me for everything under the sun, even though I told them my suspicions! Overall, it was not a good experience! At least it is over, though!

I don't really have much to say, as yesterday was pretty much consumed with therapy, my panic about the recall, and the trip to ER. Hope you all have a great day!

A lot will depend on the application and battery specs.

The overcharge looks fine.

Discharge is at the bare minimum @ 2.5v....the DNA cuts off at 3.2v....I don't think most mech users go much below 3.2v either before performance necessitates a battery change. So if its just an added safety feature to insure not ruining a battery it should be fine, but you might want to bump it up to 2.75v for a little cushion. If it is intended to be used as a low voltage cutoff while vaping I would probably recommend 3.0-3.2v.

I assume the short protection and over current protection are being done with the same circuit with a resettable ptc type fuse. 4.5a is pretty low, the DNA20 would need at least 6.5a to achieve 20 watts for the entire voltage range of a battery. Even on a mechanical mod using an Efest 18350 800mah 8C battery it should handle a 6.4a continuous discharge, which we don't do vaping and a short will quickly exceed 6.5a. But if a battery with less load capacity is going to be used then 6.5a may be to high.

So it all kind of depends what the intended application and battery is going to be.

This is just for general use, I am not expecting it to be for every situation, I just want a circuit that is good for both mechanicals and standard mods used by average people.

over charge protection(4.275 V±0.025V), short cut protection, over discharge protection(3.0V±0.1V,) over current protection(5.0±0.5A)

??

Is that better? I don't really know all of this so want to send off some proper specs before I invest in them.

Oh Tina feel better! You're a fun addition to this group!

I'm really glad that I lost my pink battery that I got somewhere else and bought a replacement from Eric so I know I'm safe!

We are heading out the door to go camping so have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks, Ree! That was very nice of you to say! Or type! ;)

Hope you have a great camping trip!

Hubby wants to swim and I really need to see if my new bathing suit still fits. I hope I can make it up the ladder! Wish me luck! :)
