Hey Eric,

I just wanted to make a video to further explain the issues I am having. I think it would be easier to see than to read.

Here it is:

132effex's webcam video December 13, 2011 09:14 PM - YouTube

saw the vid, thanks for making that. First you need to know that no matter what I take care of all issues.

It's definitely connection issues.

I tested this morning.
Using the passthrough, the thin version of the 510 to Go-go does not seem to work on any GGDCC (the clear)
The larger one (the original I have) does seem to work for the GGDCC, I am vaping on one now.

I think this problem boils down to this being a first run of the GGDCC, the inner center connector has a grommet underneath it to keep it from grounding, this doesn't seem to be very high quality and can be crushed easily, this causes it to get smaller and then it doesn't always work with the adapters (especially the smaller version). I went through about 9 of the GGDCC's this morning on various passthroughs and batteries, switching etc.. sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

They always seem to work with the Go-go batteries so that's good at least.

One thing to keep in mind is that the passthrough is not Go-go native and although one would hope they always work with adapters, sometimes it just doesn't.

Your battery issue is simple, I'll just swap it out.

This other issue is more complicated, it depends on what you want to do here, I am not sure I can fix this issue for you in terms of getting you GGDCCs that always work on the passthrough, I didn't see in the video you trying the passthrough with the larger adapter and the GGDCC?

Try that?

For the battery send it back to me, I'll replace it and credit you the shipping cost. For the passthrough, you'll need to make a decision on whether you want to keep it for other purposes or not, if you don't send it back and I will either give you a store credit or a refund, your choice.

I am sorry it's not working properly, hopefully this issue gets worked out as we start ordering more and it gets revised.

Hey Eric, thanks for the reply.

Yea, I forgot to mention in the video, but the larger adapter is also not working with the passthrough + clearomizers.

Sure, I can go ahead and send the battery back. As far as the PT goes, since you mention it is a faulty adapter and I think it is too, maybe we can try a few different adapters for it? Not sure if you have a lot laying around there, but I figure I can try maybe 2-3 larger adapters in hopes that one will connect properly?

This probably isn't your issue, Effex, but I had the same problem with the GGDCC on the VV passthrough. I could get everything to work but the GGDCC. Someone mentioned using my iPad USB plugin adapter instead of my computer or the adapters that come with PVs because it's higher voltage. I did that and it works perfectly. I wish it was something that simple for you and it's great to see that you're not being unreasonable. It's also great that Eric will always stand behind his products so we never have to worry about that.

Just a quick note -- This thread is so long that I'm not sure if this is a known issue --

I have the USB-connecting charger for the Go-Go. It wasn't seeing the batt when it was plugged in. Light on the charger stayed green, no blinking on the batt, etc. The batt screwed down all the way, lip-to-lip, onto the charger.

With a small tip, I gently pried at the center post on the charger. The tip of it was a little loose. There's a white grommet between the tip of the center post and the base, and it was extremely loose, not lined up with the edges of the tip, just apparently circling the connector wire inside. This may be a manufacturing issue, as it looks like nothing holds that grommet stable and in place. But it doesn't look large enough to slip off the end of the post. After I pried upward on the gap between the charger tip and the grommet, just a bit, very carefully, I reseated the batt and it's charging fine now.

This may be an issue for folks that aren't into messing with tools, but I'm pleased that it was such an easy fix. Not sure whether it's a permanent one, of course, or whether the wiring inside the post might be fragile enough that it'll separate after a few rounds of this.

I'm still tremendously pleased with my Go-go. Vaped some mild 12 mg Good Prophets 222 Highway with it shortly before deciding to recharge, and it felt Just Right. :)

EDIT -- Just re-read some of the posts above, and it looks that grommet thing might be a general issue with more than one of these parts, maybe?

After I use an adapter I have to raise the center post on my battery for it to charge. I've been doing this carefully since April or May and nothing bad has happened.

Someone told me that the USB ports on the computer may not supply enough voltage to power the passthrough with a dual coil carto. That turned out to be the case for me. The iPad USB plug is 5.2v I believe and that's the one that works for me now. Maybe someone with more knowledge about USB voltage can chime in here??

There were a bunch of you who wanted to test my new app on Android phones, please send me an email at eric at gormly dot com and I will send you a link to the APK, if you know how to sideload it'll be just like any other app. I don't want to put it in the market yet or give out a public link.

Right back at ya! :)
The red is killer... I just put a red battery, blue cone and red cartomizer together with a stainless drip tip.
Looks pretty sweet, I should post a pic tomorrow.

if I had green I could have made a Christmas Go-go :)

As a data point -- my Go-Go USB charger worked fine on the USB port on my desktop computer. However, it's a computer that I built myself, with high-quality parts. One of the ways that some manufacturers cut price and cut corners is by using lower-grade components that don't meet full USB power specs. The +5v rail on a cheap computer power supply can fluctuate or be significantly different from actual +5v.

A quick google indicates that the USB 2.0 spec for computer ports is 100 mA at +5 volts, with up to 500 mA if the device can negotiate with the port. It looks like dedicated car or AC-powered chargers can have different charge rates. I see between 700 mA and 1.5 A ratings when I surf a bit.

And then there's the whole thing about quality control for components, regardless of published specs, all through this chain, from power supply to port to batt to adapters.

I think the short version is -- Gotta just plug stuff in and see if it works. And hope nothing fries.

it actually lasted quite a while, I kept expecting it to die on me but lasted for a few hours while on the computer.
It's for the office, the airport, the restaurant.. etc.. not really a day to day thing, at least not until I get replacement batteries.
