Okay, I've been procrastinating on building an adapter with which I can measure DC Voltages for PVs like the Provari and also connect the Oscilloscope to measure PWM Voltages like the v8, LavaTube, etc. Finally got off my duff and did it.

Results for the v8 WITH a load are:

The Peak Voltage, regardless of what setting is selected is 8.07 Volts

The Average Voltage (the effective voltage felt by the coil) is as follows:

Setting = 3 - Average Voltage = 2.55
Setting = 4 - Average Voltage = 3.43

I normally run my v8 at 3.3 whilch yields an Average Voltage of 2.80 Volts.

I did not check the voltages higher than a setting of 4.0 for fear of frying the coil.

Pictures of the adapter below (I hope)

The V8 is a PWM device. I've looked at the output on the oscilloscope and found the following:

The Peak Voltage, regardless of what setting is selected is 8.61 Volts

The Average Voltage (the effective voltage felt by the coil) is as follows:

Setting = 3 - Average Voltage = 2.73
Setting = 4 - Average Voltage = 3.91
Setting = 5 - Average Voltage = 5.17
Setting = 6 - Average Voltage = 6.08

NOTE: These are unloaded readings, that is no device attached to the V8. I have not made an adapter yet to allow attaching a device to the V8 and taking a reading.

I normally run my V8 at 3.3 whilch yields an Average Voltage of 3.12 Volts.

I run it at 3.3 because if I accidently hit the "down" button it will not roll over to 6.0 and fry the coil.

I've found that even though the Average Voltage is 3.12, because of the PWM it seems to be the equivalent of running 4.0 to 4.5 on my Provari.

Hope this fills in some blanks.

George,

Catch me on Skype, and I will show you how I built my load tester for the Oscilloscope. They drop quite a bit. You'll love the results.

A little bit of news for V8 folks out there-
I know most of us have testified to the outstanding performance of the V8, and a lot of folks have pointed out a shortcoming of it-the battery cover, and how hard it is to open, etc. Well, this morning, I went to open the cover to put in fresh batts for the day, and when I went to put the cover back on, slid it and didn't get the familiar 'click'.....looked at it and sure enough, the little tab had snapped off. So, I use the 2 thumb golf grip technique to open it, normally once a day to install freshly charged batts. I got it right after Eric first got them, so like 3-4 weeks? Anyways, put a couple hair scrunchies on it, and other than looking a little hokie, vaped crazy like usual all day on an outing to Henry Ford Museum. So, anyways, the thing just works so freakin' well, I really really like it. A shame the battery compartment/cover wasn't designed a little different/better. My thoughts, and something for everyone to be aware of/ look for. Even with that, I would still highly reccomend the device, it performs that good! especially for the price point!! hehehe, maybe I'm just too rough with it??

Wow! That's outstanding man! I certainly don't expect anything. Sure can't blame you for design of the thing. It sure works great, and you bring it at a great price! If the doors are not a big deal to you, I will take you up on the offer though, probably place an order later this week. ( just got an order, but I can't seem to keep up with the great new stuff you get in!!!) The new T2 sounds pretty cool.

Just make sure you ask for it in the comments of the order, I can't even remember what I had for breakfast :)

I ordered the doors as soon as I realized they were prone to issues.

I also have some coming for all the colors.

OK...so today I fiddled some more with the Apollo tanks. I cut a small silicone washer(as suggested on another post) to take care of the gurgling. Worked perfect. No more gurgling at all. The problem I am having is the leaking at the battery connection. All 3 of them leak. I've tried the new innards as well as swapping parts. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I really like the looks and performance of these tanks but the constant leaking is driving me nuts. Any suggestions. Thanks

Marty
