OK...so today I fiddled some more with the Apollo tanks. I cut a small silicone washer(as suggested on another post) to take care of the gurgling. Worked perfect. No more gurgling at all. The problem I am having is the leaking at the battery connection. All 3 of them leak. I've tried the new innards as well as swapping parts. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I really like the looks and performance of these tanks but the constant leaking is driving me nuts. Any suggestions. Thanks
Marty

Is it possible you are tightening them too much? I know on certain cartos if I tighten them down too much they leak, the center post pushes the carto center post UP. I have had a Apollo leak like mad on a v8 but fine on a eGo battery.

just a thought? I have no other possibilites.

Same problem here. I filled two of them half way and sat them upright on my desk overnight. They both leaked around the center connector.

Ok, so asked a vendor why their product was leaking, this is what I got in return:

I have feedback to our engineer,he said that it's normal phenomenon,
when you are using it,it will.becoming the steam.
as long time smoking and the hot weather,
they.will.become the steam,then condenses into drops of water(e-liquid) to the bottom;
Generally the atomizers will have the steam more or less.
Get rid of the water(e-liquid) above it or.erase it.

I'm very sorry, maybe I didn't make the best explanation.about the problem, but I suppose you know the mater of the steam.

This is what I am dealing with...

The one I have sat on my desk to 2 days and was not even put on a batt and it leaked a small amount so I don't think it is steam, hihi

I really liked the Apollo in the beginning but alas it began to develop problems of gurgling and leaking. I can't tolerate leaking and I don't like having to modify something to make it work properly.
I liked the Vivi Nova V1 too but had some minor problems with dry hits but they never leaked a drop so I ordered the 2,5 version thinking it would be the same. Viola I've been using it two days without any problems at all. I'm almost gun shy about saying something works great because it usually falls apart shortly afterwards. I think they finally designed something that is truly great that doesn't leak, gurgle or produce dryhits. It vapes good with a full tank or an almost empty one and is very easy to clean or replace the atty head.
I think these are a winner and you better buy lots of them because they are quickly becoming very popular and hard to find.

OK, so I figured I'd post what I do to the V8 to ensure it doesn't have any problems no matter what leaks into it.

First though, it's got enough goop on the connections that it should not short out.
It looks like some of the most recent versions do not have extra silicone on the bottom wires. That said, even a water bridge between them does not short it out (I tested it)

Not sure what solder or solder covering they are using but it won't short with a liquid bridge.

anyway, as it will allow liquid inside I use liquid electrical on mine. The photo below shows spray on "electrical tape" because I ran out of the brush on stuff.

v8rubber.jpg

This unit will NEVER EVER short out.

Someone mentioned the wires could pull out.. that's not going to happen unless you open the unit, there is play in the wires and there is nothing to tug them, so unless you ran it over with a truck, the wires will never pull away, there are no stress points.

If you care about your V8 and you are worried about it shorting you have three easy solutions.

1. Liquid Electrical Tape
2. Spray On electrical tape
3. Silicone (in a tube)
(all available at any hardware store)

If you unscrew the 5 small screws and lay it side by side just put whichever above on all of the connector points and you will never have a problem, even if it drops into a lake.

also, if you use silicone on the smaller lower points where the wires cross over you won't have to worry about the wires pulling out.

Over all it's a solid little device that needs some tweaks but I'd venture to guess that since they've already made the molds they will not make any more or change it.

I do this kind of stuff to all of my personal batteries and mods just to make sure my klutziness doesn't cause me a loss.

Note: while I realize there are a few small drawbacks on the V8, and the design leaves a little to be desired, we cannot expect a manufacturer to prevent all types of damage from leaky cartos, we'd like to and we would love it, but I don't feel I need to tell them to fix this, in my opinion they have done everything reasonable they can to both churn these out and keep them relatively safe from shorting. If I start heaping improvements on them, they'll undoubtedly charge me more :(

That said, I am going to ask why they stopped siliconing the bottom wires.. seems odd but then again since I couldn't short it, maybe they just changed the compound??

That's awesome, Eric. Would you mind posting a larger picture of it so I can see where to put the goop?
