I did it! I just rebuilt my very first Evod coil! And it works! It measures 1.75, which I kinda wanted it a lil bit higher than that, but daggone it people, it WORKS! Just had to share with my peeps~~Ok, goin' to hit the showers then nighty night!

Congratulations! :thumb: It's nice to have that feeling of victory and accomplishment. :)

Congrats Zooker! I imagine that's a neat feeling. :)

I still can't get a build to work right in my AGA T+

Of course I haven't had much patience with it yet either!

Yep, that sure does help, thanks! I only did 5 wraps with the 32, using 2 mm silica wick. I will make another one when I get home from work today. I have successfully built coils for my Spheroid, but never tried on the Evods cuz they looked so tiny, I didn't think I could make one that small. Question: can the wraps on the coil touch each other? I was careful to make sure they didn't, but looking at some of my pre-made coils for other things, they are coiled snugly up against each other. Wasn't sure if that mattered or not.

You don't want the wraps touching. I use a large needle from my sewing box and hold the wick right next to it, then wrap the wire around it. It holds it steady and the wraps go on evenly & smooth enough to get them pretty darn close but not touching. I also have to use my magnifying glasses cuz they are so small :laugh::laugh: I leave it all wrapped around the needle until I have replaced the grommet and it's all done. Then I slide the needle out and trim down the wick. I find ( for ME ) that with it staying on the needle until the end, there's less chance of the wraps moving from my clumsy hands putting it back together.

I don't have a sewing kit... :(

That's a great idea... Gonna see my mom today though... maybe she has a spare needle??

I have to use a magnifying glass too  It has a built-in stand, which helps, but still not very strong. Perhaps I need jeweler's glasses?? :)

:D Mornings Sonics ! :D Yep, Just gets a needle from Mom. It doesn't have to be a huge one just big enough to hold in your fingers with the wick next to it comfy. I use the magnify glasses from Wallys I think is where they came from  They are big and black plastic frames. Berry attractibbes on me :laugh::laugh: I have one of theose little stands that has the little grasping clips on it too but I can't ever seems to use that thing without swearing at it  So that collects dust quite nicely :laugh:

THANKS! That's brilliant, I will totally do that! I was annoyed with the wick flopping around in my way when I was trying to get the wires through the hole and make sure everything was snug and not moving around, the needle would be a perfect help. I have one of those "helping hands" magnifyer things I bought for building coils, I've never even taken it out of it's package, I need to though, cuz I had out the magnifying glass last night and it was only compounding my fumbling issues...lol

ok, we must all be referring to the same thingy, well I'll give it a shot anyway, if I have to swear at it though it's not gonna be pretty. Usually if I swear at it, it ends up in the trash.

Good Morning DV. TGIF :)
When you are wrapping coils, it is okay for them to touch...it will not cause a short or anything like that, but people try to space them in order to distribute the heat as evenly as possible. If you want to gain resistance, you could also wrap a coil around 2 stacked needles to create an oval coil. Then install the "long" part of the oval coil vertically in the head...

LOL, I'm trying to help!! If you wrap the oval coil, you might be able to use one less wrap and fit it in the head more easily... I've been reading a lot on this forum and trying lots of techniques.
:D

 I know, just teasin ya Stoney :D

I'm just jelly.... :p
