Hey all, been a busy day, just got caught up! Welcome to the family myree!! Thanks for the congrats. Your in good company here! Glad you are feeling better Monkey Mama and I'm sorry about your traumatic day Zooker (even though it did make me laugh!)

Definitely was enough to make the ol' eyes water! I did a whole lot of this :vapor: to try and keep my mind off it, thankfully it's a short trip between here and there!

Sonics, how is Tabbytha?

Heya Zooks, thanks for asking :) She's about the same...oh, well she's not eating at all now, barely opens her jaw. Still comes over to me once or twice a day wanting lovin, so I put her on the bed and pet her, and she purrs and needs. But she looks so pitiful :( Vet told me Friday to try some baby food. Fri & yesterday I thought first I'd try pureeing her cat food that she likes. Well I think the smell make her think of pain in her jaw (assumption due to the bump under her lower jaw), so she won't eat it - not even the lunchmeat she was gobbling up previously as she won't open her jaw enough to get it in her mouth. She has been drinking water though, I observed. So I got baby food today at Target - Turkey w/Gravy... Mmmmm! She started licking it up right when I put it under her nose, then laid back down. I heard her eating again a bit ago, so hopefully she will get something from that. Vet said if it didn't work or work well, we'd have to try liquid pain meds. <sigh>

I'm sorry about your kitty... I'm facing having to put my dog down in the near future... She's 14 and I've had her since she was 6 weeks old and before that I worked at the kennel that she was at. I have her daughter who is 11.

Watching a pet fail is soooooo hard! Especially after they've been there through thick and thin for so long!

Howdy DV'ers! :D

Thanks all for the support :) She ate some more today, but I think we're going to try the pain meds to see if that helps her be less afraid to open her mouth. Gonna pick it up in the morning before I got for my drug screening for the new job. I hope that will help her eat more so she has more strength and quality of life.

In other news...

Hey Eric, where's the mini-Protanks? :?: :D

@Sonicds I'm sorry she's having such a rough time... When my son or any of my furkidz hurt I do too.

I'm sad to say that we've decided to put my 14 year old dog down because on top of all the tumors that are popping up she's started having seizures and now they are at least 3 a week but sometimes 3 a day. :'(

Thanks Ree... I just feel so powerless. But I can see you understand...so sorry about your dog. I keep worrying about seizures...none yet, or any indications, but I worry about it.

I know it's so hard watching them and then trying to do right by them. I find myself watching her to see if she's in pain and wondering if it really is the right time. The thing that convinced me was my very good friend coming over and her arrival triggered a bad seizure and she said "you know it may be time" the fact that when she stepped in to comfort Star Star growled at her. Star adores this friend so I got to her by then and reassured her that it was ok... I had to put my first American Eskimo down in 2005 and that sucked but the vet verified that he couldn't do anything for her and cut some fees and let me pay him on payday so she wouldn't suffer any longer.

My vet pretty much said the same thing - he didn't think she would even survive the surgery to get an actual sample of the mass on her leg (and now there's one on her shoulder & a tiny one on her jaw, which is the one that seems to cause her the eating problems). He did an aspirated (syringe) sample, which was negative for cancer, but he's convinced it is since those types of samples can have false negatives. All we can do he thinks is to keep her comfortable until nothing works. :(

Here's a pic of Tabbytha from a few days ago:

My last one made the decision for me and was gone when I got home from a play w/family on Christmas Eve several years ago (not the best timing, but...). She had been sick w/chronic IBS for a couple of years, but steroids were keeping her fairly healthy & active.
