Since I really feel guilty about hijacking important threads with chitchat, I thought I'd start an official thread for all the great stories we all have to share. The off topic stories about kids, natural disasters, dogs, travel plans and burnt body parts can go into more detail here without derailing otherwise specific threads...So come on in, pull up a chair, and chat away as if we're all lucky enough to be sitting & talking in the Tucson lounge!

ok, i can start!
Wow, what a week. It is graduation week. My daughter graduated from high school this week, the guest speaker was a former heavy metal band member turned family man with a daughter that graduated in the same class as my daughter.
Been to 6 grad parties recently with more tomorrow and the upcoming weekends. She is going to "beach week" which is a rite of passage for seniors. This will be one of her first trips away from home without parental supervision and I will worry so much that I should need more juice in a week because I will be out!

Wow Padre, I feel for you...It's an exciting time for the kids, but as a parent, the worry is a bugger. My babies are in their 20's now, and I still feel that tug in my gut everytime they drive off... But, congrats on getting one through high school! That is quite a feat nowadays!
By the way...I had boys, so the worries are different I suppose. Fast cars & lack of fear were my biggest worries...

Here, there, everywhere!
I will play!

My 8 year olds swim meets started this year on Wednesday and she rocked! She made them "Eat her bubbles" (that is what the kids write on their backs with sharpies "Eat My Bubbles".

She was nervouse because she only had one practice in before the meet and I told her as long as she gave it her all and had fun.....who cares where you place. Well she did and did awesome. I try not to make too big a deal about winning because I don't want her to think that is all it's about. But, it IS cool!

Hey TT....i think you are banned from using that saying.....:facepalm:

LOL, I leave my "bubbles" halfway down some isle at WallyMart and then stand at the end of the isle and watch the women coming through the gas cloud gag and retch.

I just have sooo much fun for me being an old man.

As I said earlier, my daughter graduated last week and is at beach week. So far, so good. She called us the other night to just check in and she is having a great time. The problem is she called at 11:30 at night! My wife just about had a heart attack when she saw it was her calling that late! My daughter just laughed it off, saying she had no idea of the time

She stayed up until 6 AM the next day to watch the sun rise over the ocean. That's funny, because at my age, we just get up early to see that, not stay up all night!

She said the weather is not the greatest and the ocean water is in the 60's but she is still having a good time. Too bad the weather is cooler, we had 100 degree heat last week and she missed it!

Any way, I am happy to see that she calls just to check in occasionally.

We tie our messages to kangaroos, who take them to the town drummer, who sends them via a combination of drum beats and smoke signals. Incoming messages are chiseled onto stone tablets and brought to us on carts drawn by 6 strong wombats. So it's a different kind of tapatalk, but it works for us.

VGF, just give them all a mix of A's and B's and make it easy on yourself! lol J/K of course. But wouldn't it be nice if you could.. :) Enjoy your break after grading..

I would love to do that, but would feel very guilty. I'll get finished somehow. I'm so looking forward to the ten-day break!
