LOL, actually chimney, you spelled BOTH of them right. So much for spell check!

Yeah, we have one real bad fire south of us that has burned over 18,000 acres and is about 40% contained. On top of that there are about half a dozen smaller fires and the bad thing about that is that its tying up local fire departments keeping them from helping with the big fire.

Of course, these are nothing compared to the fires in Arizona and New Mexico.

But its so dry here ... you wouldn't believe its East Texas. Our ponds are about all dried up and I had to sell all my cattle because with the drought no grass is growing. Feed is far too expensive to buy so I had to back out of all of it. No other choice.

There's some good news on the horizon though. They are calling for a 50% chance of rain tomorrow (Tuesday) starting early in the morning and a good chance of more rain on Wednesday.

That man upstairs takes care of us if we give him a chance.

TT

I'm sorry that you had to sell your cattle. :(

It's very dry here too and we've had no rain. There are brush fires west of us and the smell is drifting east. It smells terrible when I go in the yard to take the dogs out. Almost every day, there is 50% chance of storms, but all it does by us is get cloudy. Last week, it was thundering and I so hoped it would rain; didn't happen. Our grass is almost dead and will stay that way since we're under severe watering restrictions.

You didn't do well on your final, but because of your excellent participation in the discussions, you earned a high C!

Techno-Please send the rain south..We'll be in LaConner in 3 weeks & I'd love for there to be a day or two of Sunshine...

Are you going to 1000 trails ? We used to camp up there, and I just loved it. I will do my naked rain dance this week for the solstice and see if I can push the rain south to Arizona & Texas ... NO, there will not be any photos...

We were at the 1000 trails last year. This time we'll be at an ROD camp right in LaConner down by the Marina. It's beautiful country up there. We have friends that live in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island.

After that we're heading to the 1000 trails in Chehalis. We're planning on visiting Mt. St Helens while we're there. I was home on leave prior to heading to Germany back when she blew her top & it's been a lot of years since I went there. It'll be interesting to see how she's changed....

So I'm working on convincing my dear hubby that we really do need to drive 300 miles extra to take the Southern route (back to Texas in October) vs. the Northern route so I can go to the Lounge. Like I told him, it's only an extra day and 15 gallons of diesel...I promised to not get a Starbucks the next 15 times I craved a caramel machiato and that would pay for the gas.....Shhh, don't tell him that I'll probably spend equivalent to that when I'm at the Lounge.....

We have a son who lives in Portland and believe it or not, he and his girlfriend were camping at the Tillamook Cheese Factory last weekend.

I've been to LaConner - there's a lot of really nice small towns north of Seattle along the coast that are fun to visit ... but guys ... the seafood. Oh man. Big bowls of steamed clams and all kinds of nice things to eat.

I have to get back up that way. And for sure, over to Tucson!

Still? This is really annoying me. Sunday afternoon, I deleted over 100 messages. Last night, I deleted 400! I don't understand why I didn't start getting error messages until Sunday. I'll clear out some more.

I was born in Tacoma & raised in Oregon so I think I'll qualify for residecy LOL.... We plan on eventually settling in the Pacific Northwest after we get our fill of toodleing around the US of A. I've lived in Texas so long that I'll probably have to practice losing my Texas twang before they'll let me settle there. No offense TT but Texas is just to dang HOT.
