Yes.A 2.5 w/ the P3 top cap ... does it still require nipple top batts?
Yes.
Thank you!Welcome to the fold!!! You'll be "flying on your own power" in no time!
You DO need button top batteries to run a v2.5
The batteries most recommended by Provape, is the AW battery. And an untold number of v2.5 users will tell you how perfectly paired a v2.5 is with an AW battery. They practically designed the v2.5 around the AW battery.
The bevel cap is the standard cap, and tapers to a 19mm size. This will look funny (to many people) under a 22mm atomizer. Some don't mind the look.
The "P3 top" is a flat cap installed on the device, replacing the taper. It is comprised of the cap which has a P3 connection (proprietary), and a 510 adapter with beauty ring. You do not need to own P3 tanks for them to fit on a P3 capped Provari.
The Kabuki now comes standard in a P3 configuration, with a 510 adapter.
The benefit of a P3 connection is a double benefit. On one side, you get a MUCH more stable, and strong mechanical connection. On the other side, you get a better electrical connection to the atomizer. So whatever reason you prefer, you still win!
In my opinion, it's the best connection to have. Even when you install the 510 adapter, the connection is much stronger than that of the standard v2.5 taper cap.
The Provari v2.5 Mini is the same device, only shorter. The standard or "long" v2.5 can use 18490 size button top batteries, and an 18650 with the addition of an extension ring or cap.
The Mini comes in a size that uses 18350 size button top batteries, but can be extended to use both 18490's or 18650's, with the addition of two extension rings, or an extension ring and an extension cap.

Any reason not to get the 2200?
Thank you!
RTD has an AW 18650 1600 mAh button top battery for $10.29 HERE.
They also have a 2200 mAh HERE for $10.90.
Any reason not to get the 2200?
I guess spending the extra 20 bucks on the P3 connection, 510 adapter and beauty ring is the way to go. But are you saying the "standard" cap will or won't accept a standard 510 atomizer connection? If if won't, what would I need to make that happen? Most of my tanks are 22 mm dia and I don't like things hanging out over the tops of mods, so a beauty ring would be in order. Is THIS what I'd need? Or would I need the "TANK RING"?
Apparently, the 2.5 Mini comes in black, silver, metallic green, emerald green and polished stainless. They don't seem to have extension rings in any of those colors. That rules out using an 18650, so no Mini for me.
Anyway, subject to your further advice, I tentatively plan to get the v2.5 in gold Zencote, green display, and optional P3 top cap with 510 and beauty ring. I might as well get a couple of 18490 batteries to qualify for free shipping.
Again, many thanks! You guys are great!
Excellent info. I've placed the order and am excited about my very first ProVari. A buy for the Vapocopolypse, but I intend to use it--can't bring myself to just stash it in a box under the bed. Thanks! The 2200 mAh battery will last longer, and since the v2.5 isn't a limit pusher by nature, that battery is a good option.
The standard taper cap WILL accept a 510 connection, it IS a 510 connection, but it sounds like you're of my same mindset...I don't like things hanging over the edge either!
The taper cap is 19mm, so it won't flush/match the 22mm atomizer.
The P3 cap will.
(To be fair, the Provari is 23mm. You'll have a 0.5mm step down to the atomizer...it's barely imperceptible to me, and pretty much looks flush.)
According to Mooch's 18650 battery rating (18650 Battery Ratings -- Picking a Safe Battery to Vape With | E-Cigarette Forum), the 1600mAh 18650 AW has a CDR of 24A and a Max Vaping Amps of 35A whereas the 2200mAh 18650 AW has a CDR of 15A and a Max Vaping Amps of 20A.
I think the 1600mAh battery might be better for those who push the limits, but for a Provari user I think that the 2200mAh battery should be fine and will hold a charge longer.

That is exactly what I wanted to see. I have a Ti Gem. I think I found a permanent home for my Ti Gem once my 2.5 arrives...![]()
The Ti Gem is my only RTA I have ever owned besides my HOH sidewinder I like the Gem a lot, though it was pricey. I am hoping it does well on the 2.5 mini. I have been stockpiling for the last two years and I am glad I did..... The 40% tax in PA is already closing vape shops.
YesA 2.5 w/ the P3 top cap ... does it still require nipple top batts?
Congrats!!!Well my 2.5 arrived a day early and I am very pleased with the vape. It's a different vape. I like it more than my ZNA-lite I have heard the rumors of the Provari Magic, thought it was just hype.... Now I know better![]()
