My cat is middle age, and still fun :rickroll:
Got one here that is 15. Down from three cats. Had a kitten I found in my truck engine compartment in the garage a few months ago but found a home for it a month later. I need a break from cats! Can't deal with all the health problems. I could write a Ripley's Believe it or Not with what I've had to deal with.

All pets ultimately cost $$$. But to me, they love they bring into our home is worth the price of admission!

You wouldn't believe the amount of money I spent on animals. I still don't believe it. Let's just say I could have bought a decent, brand new car with what I spent on one of them...just in health care costs. She was something else. And literally a case study.

I'm sure we too have spent the cost a couple nice cars over our 35 years with cats. But to be honest, the cars [or insert any high ticket item here] would have never provided the joy the cats have over the years.

There's no question they become part of the family. And I've always adhered to the belief that if you take on a pet then you have to take care of them to the best of your ability (even though it wasn't my decision to have these animals). If this cat had belonged to a poor family there is no way they could have afforded to pay the health bills and they would have been forced to put her down. And that's fine. Pet owners have to do what they can and no more. I was able to afford it so I paid it. I did what was right and have no guilt. And she was only one of three cats that had major, expensive health issues. It has worn me down financially and emotionally not to mention the hours and hours and hours nursing them and administering medications, etc... After this 15 year old goes I just absolutely have to have a break from pets. I want to know what it's like not having to administer meds or walk in a barf pile...after 24 years of consecutive cat ownership.

Cost of pets? I used to breed Arabian horses. I win.

I hear you. Our beloved Sakai who we put down the week after we got married took a major toll on us. When we took the kittens into the vet last week for a checkup, they reminded me I commented on our way out after saying goodbye to Sakai that I was done. Sakai cost close to $8K in her last 6 weeks. It clearly didn't work out the way I figured and here I am typing as I watch both Emi and Eri flying all over the place having fun. And it warms my heart and makes me laugh. But I'm also realistic. I'm guessing these will be the last kittens we'll have. By the time we have to say goodbye to them, we could both be in our 80s and at that point, it would be irresponsible of us to bring kittens home again. So I will love and cherish these kittens with every fiber of my being. Yes I will!
