Ok, a ProVari related question...has anyone used a Cape Cod polish cloth on a P2.5/P3 Ti (or a WAE II)? They say not to use the cloth on brushed SS finishes...just want to make sure I'm not going to mess up the finish before I give it a try.

I know what you mean. I used to work on large 4-5 year petrochem projects. At the end of a project, I used to buy a new watch. My first was an AP Royal Oak...it kept horrendous time but I loved wearing that watch. I still have it but it's in a safe deposit box in LA along with a couple of other nice pieces. I may bring them all back with me the next time I'm home. They aren't serving any good purpose sitting in the dark!

Actually, just letting a good mechanical movements sit idle for long periods of time, is not only not serving any good purpose, but could be harmful. The oils dry out in movements when not being run. If they've sat a long period of time without running, you might want to have them serviced. BTW., a AP Royal Oak is a significant chunk of watch, that costs a significant chunk of money. If it's not accurate, it likely just needs to be serviced and adjusted. Feel free to give it to me and I'll make sure it gets the love it deserves! Yes I will!!

Too late.

Aw, really? And all this time, I thought I had you guys fooled. Silly me!

Thanks, Bronze. Maybe someone else will chime in. I'll do a bit of searching on here tomorrow when I'm back on my computer. Tapatalk and an iPhone don't lend themselves to that at the late hour over here. ;)

Don't use a Cape Cod Cloth on a satin silver finish. It will not have a positive outcome. I use Cape Cod cloths on highly polished finishes only.

Thanks for the reminder. They haven't been worn for many years so I'll have them serviced again before I start wearing them to avoid damaging the movements.

I bought that AP in 1986 in Jeddah...bloody thing has been in for service several times but it's always run slow. There's an AP service center in Bangkok...gonna ask them to keep the watch until they can get it to run just a bit fast!

Shinola: Where watches are assembled with bits and pieces, NOT made in America. I'm not into quartz. And they don't have any mechanical movement watches, yet. If you're interested in a true American Watch Maker, look no further than RGM. One of the best watchmaker's on the planet, who has set up shop in Lancaster, PA (where American watchmaking was once the reigning king - but is sadly no more).

These are watches!

There's absolutely no reason a Royal Oak can't be regulated to run as accurate as any high end watch can. No reason at all.

That's what I always told AP NY but they never seemed to manage to get this one regulated correctly. Used to drive me crazy...bloody service charges were not cheap either!

No, services are not cheap. And even less so, for a high end piece like a Royal Oak. Since its no longer in warranty, maybe find a really good independent watchmaker to see if he or she can do a better job. I remain convinced there's no reason that thing can't be regulated correctly.

Thanks Sir Rod...I'm with you. Will probably let AP BKK give it a try after I get the watch out of storage. One of the links in the metal bracelet also needs some work IIRC.

Heartwood Mods

There's a guy in my local vape shop, who makes handmade wood mods with DNA 40 chips in them. He makes them out of solid blocks of beautiful wood, but they're really pricey. His prices start at $600 and go up from there. They are truly beautiful and no two look alike. I'll snap a pic next time I'm in there.

Congrats though. It's really nice looking for sure!
