I am using a Subtank Mini with a 0.5ohm coil (tried 3 different ones so it isnt the coil) and at 18-20w, the warning sign (over the ohm reading) flashes when I try to vape above 3.2v.

3.2 x 3.2 = 10.24 / 0.5 = 20.48W, which exceeds the 20W limit. There's a little play in the math due to the 0.5 coil not being exactly 0.5 - could be a little higher or a little lower, and to make it more complicated, coil resistance changes based on temperature as well.

You're hitting the wattage limit.

Thx!

Same thing at 18w though.

I will try at lower wattage...

Please go here Ohm's law and run the numbers.
The P3 if your battery meter % is to low It will do that. P3 20 watts upper and 6.5 Amps are the specs. If you get the a warning. GO to recall Info and it will tell you what is wrong.
Not trying to be a smartxxx But these things are in the manual

Oh what version does your p3 have. V38 fires a .5 ohm but v36 won't.
38. Will get the latest version (40?) loaded tomorrow.

I can get the Kanger 0.5 to fire at 15.2w and no higher. Useless for me with a subohm tank. If the new version doesn't fix it, the P3 will be a very expensive mod only used to vape my Nautilus tanks at 12w. Basically no better than my Signature.

Weird as I was vaping the same coils at 20w for a few weeks on the same P3.

Edit: Most Kanger 0.5 coils read 0.6-ish on my P3. Hence, I can get close to 20w normally.

Not being a smart @$$ at all. RTFM is in my blood. :) I appreciate the help.

Read the manual before I posted and know ohm's law. The only thing I can think of is that my first 2 coils ohm-ed out at 0.65. I really didn't notice unfortunately.

What are you showing on the IQ ?
Another good point - if IQ is too low, it'll limit the output.

You guys are awesome!

IQ was 56. Changed out my Samsung 25R for an LG and now it is 68. I guess the P3 didn't like that one battery. Battery is only a couple of weeks old and seems to work well in my other mods.

Happily vaping at 20w again. Cool!

Thanks to all that helped me figure this one out.

Stretch out your spring in the P3. I mean really Stretch it out. They become compressed over time and I actually replace mine about every 6 months or so. Once you stretch the spring out, test IQ again. I think you'll see a pretty dramatic increase.

Also, what is your routine for maintaining the threads in every section with a thread on your P3? Do you clean and lube them? My signature has a link to my one and only blog on ECF about the proper maintenance of P3 threads. This will also increase IQ.

Cool! Could also make sure all connections are nice and tight. Like the bottom cap and the two battery extensions. It's the sum of all parts that effects IQ.

Thank you!

I ordered a few springs for my P3 and Signature along with my 2 Gold 2.5's.

I did the stretch trick and now IQ is 86!

Wow every 6 mos. Is that necessary for the P3 or just a personal thing? If it's the same spring ProVape uses on the other Provari's I've yet to change one ever.

Question for the assembled Provarinati: if you get a P3 firmware update done at an authorized B&M, do they do it for free?
They are allowed to charge, I can't recall the amount, but the shop I visit charged me 10$ to update mine. You'll just have to find out what your local shop charges, or if they charge. They are not required to as far as I know.

Mine does it for free but I have bought 5 mods (3 are Provari), 4 tanks and a bunch of other stuff over the last few weeks, so they may just be being nice. I still think they do it for free for anyone though.....

It's up to the individual dealer, but my dealer will update a P3 for free, regardless of where it was purchased. They're great guys that way!

I personally think it's lousy for a dealer to charge anyone an update charge. The programmer itself cost the dealer only $200 and the update itself takes less than 3 minutes. Providing a helpful service, just might get a dealer a new customer who just might spend money in their store. Just a thought.........
