Thanks for all the advice everyone. I was really frustrated last night and now I'm at work vaping on my Silo, which BTW, for a pre-built coil system is pretty fantastic. I looked at the pictures of my first coil, which worked perfectly (I should have just cleaned her and re-wicked her and not gone through all this), but noooooooo.......Sir Rod feels he has to keep building coils.........But one thing was clear in comparing the pictures of the first coil I built for the KFL+ and the subsequent coils, all of which were a bust, is that I did attach it with the legs top down, not bottom up. And the coil distance from the air opening was much less in the first coil.

So, when I get home tonight, I'll try yet again. This time legs top down and adjust the coil to be a bit closer to the air opening. Since my pea-sized brain can't wrap around the on the diagonal concept (even with the picture JohnDO posted), I'm going to stick with vertical for the moment.

I just want it to work. Is that too much to ask (Sir Rod said tongue in cheek)? :-x

Besides my hands being so dumb - reading your last 10 or so posts reaffirm to me why I do NOT want to build coils.

That's funny, I was thinking this morning that I like the look of the K4. LOL But I don't see myself spending that much on a top and I'm still afraid it's a bit too complex for me. Still, it is purty!

Astro, I'm so happy for you! I still don't mind and actually kind of appreciate the "kettle weight" P3, but maybe one day a TI will make it into my hands.

Congratulations and please enjoy your P3!

My juice is a 70/30 blend, so this makes sense and I've finally realized on the KFL+ that 9.4 watts produces the perfect blend of flavor and volume. The picture you referred to was a failed build. Last night I finally built a successful coil, which is centered over the hole and is working great. Thanks for taking the time to help. Much appreciated.
Finally caught up with the thread and saw your latest build. Looks good. As for the k4, it's not a huge leap in the vape over a kfl, but a big leap in ease of use. Stick with the kfl for now and you'll be fine.

Actually Peter, I thought of you when I was having my self-pity party over building a coil. I do feel badly that I may have deterred you from feeling you can do this. It only took me about 3 or 4 builds to get it right, which in retrospect isn't bad. It truly takes a couple minutes to build a coil and that includes torching it. The issues for me, have been figuring out how high off the air hole to position it and getting the right amount of cotton in it. But I think I've finally got it, by jove and I suspect you could too.

I'd actually say the K4 is easier to "use" then the KFL. You don't have to break it down into its 40+ parts very often, if at all. In fact, since I got mine maybe a week after release I've only broken it down into more the 4 parts on the day I received it, in order to install the P3 connector, install a Spectrum glass tank, and adjust air flow. Other then that it's two adjustments for filling (close juice control, remove top nut), and two for rebuilding (remove tank, remove congestion ring).

I used various genesis atties for years and never tried an RTA until the Erlkonigin was released. A couple short months later I bought a K4, and a couple weeks after that another K4. Then I bought a KFL and ended up giving it to my brother after a couple weeks. I would agree with everyone who says the difference in vape is negligible, or even non-existent, but the top fill and ease building on the K4 was a win for me. I also would agree with those that say there isn't much point in upgrading to K4 if you have/use/enjoy a KF/KFL. And even if the top fill and ease of rebuilding is important to you, you still have to answer for yourself if they're worth the relatively high price tag.

Thanks for your thoughts. Since I just got a KFL+, I need to master it fully before I ever consider a K4. But I tend to like getting new shiny things, so a K4 could be in the distant future. Yes it could!

Which is exactly why I passed on the K4. I use two KFLs on a daily basis (for different flavors). I was not going to spend $350 to replace them when I couldn't care less about top fill or accessing my deck without draining. Neither of those two features come anywhere near worth the expense. If the vape was better then I would have jumped on it. But I have endless testimony from K4 users that tells me the vape is the same as the KFLs.

If it doesn't taste better or work better as a vaping device, then I'm also not sure it's worth the added expense. It is nicer looking if that matters, but money in my pocket is better at the end of the day.

That said, I guess I have to never say never. I was one of those self proclaimed, "I ain't gonna build no stinking coils" kind of guy, and now look what's happened. I've taken up copious space here trying to figure out how to build a coil for a KFL+!

From my admittedly short time with the KFL+, I couldn't see any difference in quantity or quality of vape. If I closed my eyes I wouldn't have been able to tell you which one I was vaping on.

You can get an authentic KFL for $100 less than an authentic K4. As RC says, one has to weigh the additional value to see if it is worth it. Since I NEVER have a need to drain my tank that feature is worthless to me. Yes, it would be nice to top fill but not worth the extra expense. And when I already have two KFLs that vape the same it makes it even less attractive to go with a K4.

You're right...money in the pocket is more attractive.

Announcing that I am a proud new owner of a blue Provari P3, thanks to the generosity of one of our Provarinati, it arrived this morning. I've been using it in both 18490 and 18650 mode, with my KFL+.

This is such a wonderful group. Thank you very special person, you know who you are. ;)

I'm happy to hear the good news. You have been a great help to many so I'm happy someone helped you. Enjoy the P3 as it is amazing.

With that being said I'm sure I'm going to add a new KFL Five Pawns addition. I vape 2-3 flavors and I like the size of the FP edition. My 2.5 is lonely so it's only fair to add a KFL on it. ;)

Hey everyone :)

I am way behind on this thread, probably a few hundred posts  On top of that this is my first post since the change on ECF, and I'm not yet sure whether I like it or not. How does everyone here feel about the new forum software? Any tips/tricks I should know?

10% Flashsale at ProVape today.
My awards points from my last P3 purchase mature tomorrow.
Wiseasses :censored:

Damn it, of course it's only a one day sale. I doubt I'd be able to resist getting another Celtic Knot P3 at $197 (that's with tax), but I won't have the cash to spare until tomorrow or Saturday

Mouse over ProVape. The new software automatically turns it into a link to this subforum.

Hey DEAc, the new forum is actually pretty nice and easy to use, but I know I'm not along when I say there is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much white on the screen. They really need to add some skins to tone the screen down a bit. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
