Did I say anything wrong??? I feel like I'm being attacked here.

You sir, have not said anything wrong. But, I'm afraid you do come with a reputation. Please feel comfortable with the Provarinati and be a good and contributing member and we'll all be happy.

We need to get that pot stirring smiley added to the emoticons available here on ECF. You're pretty good about gettin' your way. Can you make it happen Dear Ocelot! Huh? Can you??

I think Robin is the one to ask.

I was the one that started the charger conversation. My Nitecore 4 bay suddenly died for no reason. The 2 bay one still works fine, but I've ordered an xtar VP 4 bay, due to the advice I got on here and that I used to have an Xtar. The End.

Not a huge fan of the Nitecore i4 myself and was considering a LUC as a replacement. Would the Xtar be a better choice? Will it charge 18350's without having to use a spacer?

I have a Luc V4 & an XTAR VP2 - They both make the I2s I had feel like toys.

Neither need a spacer for 18350s. LUC's lowest setting is .5A. The VP2 does .25V
I read that the slower the better for battery life so I always charge my 18350's at .25V on the VP2

OTOH - The LUC will charge 26650's @ 2A

Does it plug in the wall?

It just blows me away that this should even have to be asked. Product descriptions should include this information. It is so fundamental to the operation of the charger. Why would they leave this info off? Amazing!

Yes. It plugs into the wall.

My reputation is for being a Clone user who got defensive when people say they are bad. I'm not a bad person at all.

Well, we don't really talk about clones here in the P3 forum, so we should be just fine. And I'm quite sure you're not a bad person. We just keep a VERY friendly, non-combative house here and we aim to keep it that way. Yes we do! And welcome to our friendly house, btw.

Just got my response from RTD (they're very quick...love that about RTD...top shelf vendor):

"The Xtar VP2 is a plug-in-the-wall charger and also comes with the car charger cord.

The VC2 does not come with the adapter to plug in the wall nor does it come with the car charger cord. The wall adapter for the VC2 can be found here> Xtar AC Wall Adapter 750mA - RTD vapor"

Yeah, so that one plugs in via USB like a phone.

Hey, just an FYI for Tapatalk users. I got an email from them, saying they're moving to an ad supported app in the very near future. But if you ever purchased Tapatalk HD or Tapatalk Pro, you're eligible for VIP status, meaning you won't have to see adds. They said that many users who had purchased either the Pro or HD app had been automatically converted to HD status. But if you purchased either and hadn't been converted they would convert you, if you PM'ed some dude, provided your name and Apple or Android ID in a specific order AND a screen shot of your purchase page from either iTunes or the Android market (sorry, don't know what their app store is called), they convert you. Soooo, of course I had purchased Tapatalk HD at one point (neither PRO or HD are currently supported anymore), but they had not automatically converted me to VIP. I finally figured out how to PM the dude and what order was required to submit the information, took a screen shot of my purchase page and send him a PM. I got an response very quickly that I had been granted ad free VIP status, so I guess it was worth figuring out their very cryptic and not easily understood directions.

I provide this as a public service in case any other Tapatalk users at one time paid for Pro or HD and you haven't been converted to VIP (meaning totally ad free) status. BTW., they are only going to grant this until July, so let me know if anyone needs help or guidance on the process you need to go through. After July, they won't grant the ad free status.

I only know because I ordered batteries this morning for my In Transit P3 ;)

Thanks for the discount info. I, too, need a new charger. TO's recommendation made the decision an easy one. VP4 it is!

This is how I understand it as well. I'm sure it gets to a point of diminished returns but slower is better in general terms is how I learned it.

Yes, I'm sure it does :).
Really, though, it didn't know that slower charging is better for batteries. Thanks!

Good! Now that we have that settled, do you have a P3, Ricks?

You want anything Xtar over eFest.

I have a LUC v4. They over-charge batteries if you leave them to full charge.

Last set I did on the LUC metered out at 4.24V.

Not good.

It's an okay charger as long as you take the batteries off early.

VP2 plugs into the wall too.

When they say USB charging, they mean USB output. So, you stick a cell in one of the bays and you can charge your phone, or wot not.
Thanks. I learned the VP series comes with the wall adapter. The VC series does not. The product description for the VC links you to a wall adapter but the VP doesn't say a word one way or the other.
