Bingo. That would solve the problem completely.I think the biggest problem is the screws aren't attached to the bottom cap.

Not complaining, but it is not a matter of "if" it is a matter of "when" I will lose one of the screws.

Go to my local nuts'n'bolts shop, and buy me the appropriate size of these:

They make them thin enough I'm sure they'll fit inside the cap.
This will effectively lock the bottom cap screws onto the cap, so they won't get lost!
