Could it also hold one 78mm (charging) and a 65mm with carto?

Also, I don't see a replacement batt for the Volt PCC on your site. Any idea what the replacement price would be for the batt.

the VOLT PCC 65mm/78mm will fit 1 of the following combinations:

1) 2 65mm batts 1 carto
2) 1 65mm batt 2 cartos
3) 2 78mm batts
4) 1 78mm batt 2 cartos

the PCC fully charged will charge a 65mm batt 3-4 times and a 78mm 1-2 times before the PCC needs to be recharged.

edit** also the 1000mah battery is replaceable...once it dies you can replace it without having to replace the PCC. it has a 300x recharge cycle

Hi all,

Thanks to the posts here I decided to buy the Volt, and have just received my two manual 78mm Volts, in purple and red. They look so pretty! I also ordered a Sweet Sampler pack and a Menthol pack. My other PV is the Go-go, these Volts look like midgets compared to that. Very nice indeed. And talk about lots of vapor, wow!

I'm having some problems, and am hoping someone will know if it's me making mistakes. Both batteries produce very warm vapor, almost hot, even with a fairly short, gentle draw. Is that normal? The reason it concerns me is that the Sweet Sampler pack cartridges all have an unpleasant, kind of burnt taste to them. I just took them out of their packet and screwed them onto the battery, and the taste is there. Two of the five menthol cartridges have the taste too, I haven't dared try the other three as I'm on bad-taste-overload.

The chocolate cartridge has very little chocolate taste, it's very flowery/perfumy but that's it. The vanilla tasted sort of very fake and harsh. The watermelon and grape would be ok, if not for the burnt taste. The cherry was hard to tell as the burnt taste is very strong. All are 0mg. The mint especially has the burnt taste, strongest of all. Is it me??

I'm waiting for the arrival of an auto battery (dark blue) and blank cartridges, maybe that'll be better.

Tgirl

hmmm....burnt taste using the volt batt???? Hon, I have no idea....I have not experienced that.....then again, I have yet to really break into my sweet sampler, and I don't have the menthol. But.....that does sound odd indeed.

yes it can hold a charging 78mm with a 65mm with a carto.... the PCC does not come with any batts unless you buy one of the kits...the one in the picture is just for show.

I was referring to the replacement cost for the internal 1000 mah batt. It does come with that batt doesn't it.
What I'm trying to do is compare the cost of replacing a Mega when the battery dies, to the cost of replacing just the batt for the Volt PCC.

Hi Tgirl,

First--welcome to Planet Volt!! (hee--I'm trying to start a thing)

I'm not sure I have much that can help other than to let you know that I also had the smooth and sweet samplers (but at 24/18 mg) and I did not experience the same "burnt" taste you describe. Perhaps this is a side-effect of the 0 nic juices?

I can say that I believe the Volt manual batteries, right off the charger run a wee bit hotter than Volt auto batteries, and I definitely like this heat. Although my auto is a total champ with some juices, with others I prefer my manual.

It's also possible that you just prefer other juices than the stock Smokeless Image ones. Definitely give some others a try! I think if you're getting the same warmth from both of your manual batts, and it's very similar with your auto batt that's coming then you're experiencing the same 808 that the rest of us are--and find excellent. But it's possible that it's not your cup of tea. I know I've been trying PVs, cartos, atty's and juices for weeks and each slight change in output/resistance/juice ingredients can cause a lot of different things to happen taste-wise. I've found some juices I don't use on anything but my Volt, but I've also found a supplier that I believe shines on a more powerful batt.

Hope this might have helped a little--maybe someone with more experience with the SI 0-nic juices will chime in.

Good luck on your quest for perfect vaping! A lot of us have found it with the Volt!

I'll take a stab at this.

First, I do find that that batteries fresh off the charger do seem to run the cartomizers a little hotter than after a few draws. It doesn't happen every time but it's noticeable when it does. Usually, a few shorter, faster draws WITHOUT inhaling (just blow the vapor out after the draw) brings things down to a mellower level. While these batteries are regulated, I'm fairly certain there is not room for a very robust circuit and there's opportunity for things to run a little hot when freshly charged.

If that helps get past the worst of it, another aspect of this kicks in: this carto/battery combination does produce a warmer and (most of the time, in my opinion) "moister" vapor. It is VERY different from smoking, and from any other PV I've used. That in in itself can take some getting used to, but I have grown to prefer it.

Yet another angle is in the flavors themselves. I'll admit, I was not fond of any of the prefilled cartomizer flavors at first. None tasted "burned" really, but it took a while before I found that I really like Watermelon, Vanilla and Grape. The coffee and chocolate ones, for example, I cannot stand. I'm going to try the RY4, 555 and Desert Joe just for kicks (I just recently found a tobacco nicquid I like so giving those flavors another shot). It's perfectly natural that out of a sampler pack there will be some you don't like. Also, I have had a few prefilled cartos "spit" at me like they were slightly overfilled, but that tends to pass quickly.

The last thing I can think of that can cause a slightly burned taste is poor air flow / hard draw. The cartomizers should have a visibly etched channel on the center battery contact - it's rare but I've seen a couple with either no channel or one just barely there and not deep enough for good air flow. Make sure you're not holding the Volt in a way that covers the junction between the battery and cartomizer, as that can restrict flow as well. Even though they're new, check the battery to make sure the small holes on either side of the threads aren't blocked or incompletely drilled through.

So... if your batts are running a bit hot and can be mellowed out with a few short draws, come to terms with the characteristics of the vapor, are sure there are no air flow issues and can find at least one flavor you seem to like and still have an issue with burned taste, you might have possibly have some faulty cartomizers. Again rare, but bad batches do happen.

Hope this helps, or at least leads to some investigation/testing that helps figure out what's going on.

This is a shot in the dark, because I use an auto batt and have not tried the Sweet Sampler. But the only time I get hot vapor or a very slight burnt taste is when the carto is running dry. It's possible your samples were under-filled, and that could be the cause. Try adding some juice and see if that improves things.

yes good call on that...0 nic are really not that popular so that could be the reason we have not heard much about this issue.

agreed as well.... and again if something is defective as we talked about in chat we will be happy to replace it for ya :)

TGirl....I should have noted also....not sure how long you have been vaping....if this is your very first experience with it or not. Chocolate and Vanilla are the absolute hardest flavors to get "right". I have (after many many months of searching and trying) finally found only 1 place that does a REALLY good almost true chocolate flavor and only a few places that do what I consider a pretty good vanilla. I myself do a bit of DIY juices, and those are the 2 that I struggle with and have given up. So, with this, it is probably not something you are doing wrong with those 2 flavors, it's just that they are not true to "real life" flavor.

Now with that said, I will have to note that I need to go and try both of these flavors from SI, as I had only taken 1 hit off of each of them when I first got them just to get a feel for the family of flavorings that the factory uses....and that is not nearly enough for me to pass judgement on my thoughts of them:laugh:

I like the colored carto caps. I may have to place an order for those alone (I don't need anything else at this moment) just to make sure I get some before they sell out. Unless SI received several million of them, I can see many others wanting these for for their existing non-Volt cartos and draining the supply. Maybe there should be a (recent) carto order requirement for buying them :p

Now to search for a matching set of rings, bands, etc. to place on my juice bottles so I can remember which flavor goes with which carto color...

Hey resnbl NICE AVI!! Looks like a V too! Sweet! :)

Thank you all,

I will try what you suggest. First of all I checked the holes, they did seem a bit blocked so I poked a tiny needle through them. They are fine now. Then I screwed on the cartridge, making sure that the two battery holes are not blocked by the cartridge. If I screw them on without checking that, the holes do get covered up.

I bought glycerine at the chemist, I don't have a lot of juice and don't want to waste any. Topped up the watermelon with glycerine, I'm pretty sure it's soaked now. The taste is still disgusting, but weaker due to the glycerine diluting the watermelon juice. The diluted grape is bland now, but at least not burnt. The menthol is weaker, but still unpleasant. It does seem that the cartridges might not have been filled enough? I haven't done the others yet, I need to have a break from obsessing about this. :p

The vapor is still quite warm, but not as hot as before. I think it might've been those airholes. It'll be interesting when I get the blank cartridges, I've got 80/20 juice from Ms T's Bakery and Velvet Vapors to try.

Thanks again,

Tgirl

we will eventually be adding a store locator onto the site...in the meantime just give us a call during 10am-6pm EST and we can let you know if there is one in your area :)
Might there be a way to know if local brick and mortar shops are carrying the SI products?....(sorry Imagine...)
