Why do some people use vodka? I think Vapian's system will work well for me if I don't have a lot I want to do at once, and don't want to buy more equipment if I can keep it simple.
The problem with cleaning cartos isn't just getting the batting snowy white - it's getting rid of the burnt-up crud that builds up on the coil/heating element. I don't think plain water is a strong enough solvent to have any effect on the crud. Some people use vodka because it's safer to ingest than rubbing alcohol, and it's cheaper than PGA (pure grain alcohol - I got my cheapo 1.75L of vodka for $6.99 on sale). Only thing is, vodka is only about 80 proof and I think the stronger stuff (151-190 proof) does a better job. So I usually soak my dirty cartos for a few days first (in a lidded container), hoping the crud softens up enough to shake itself loose...kinda like soaking a dirty pan in the sink, to soften up the burnt-up crud. ...plus, you can have a Screwdriver while you're cleaning! Yay!

I've been shaking them vigorously in Tupperware; cleans, but I think that might be too rough on my cartos - I end up losing a few. So I've been saving up for an ultrasonic cleaner too - may be a little gentler. Careful with the syringe cleaning - I've tried that too, and lost a bunch of them - maybe too much force? Dunno. But just do a small batch first, and make sure it works for you.

I wonder if Vapian's mad about it or if he doesn't care. He wasn't selling anything that this company is now competing with him, right? If someone copies you, that's a form of flattery.

I am not mad at all -- not really sure if I "care" in this context. :) There are LOTS of documented cases of simultaneous invention/innovation, and I have no real reason to question anyone who says they've been working on it for "months". Even if that weren't the case (which I'm NOT saying), what good would a public pissing match accomplish?

Besides, from the start of the Cartomizerfillinator thread it was intended as an "open source" project - which has paid off in the off-shoot of the Bottlefillinator - and while the idea did originate to win a contest (which it did!) I didn't start expecting to make any money from it - after all, for the most part we're just sticking a tube on the end of syringe. :) Figured it would be a DIY movement if anything.

And... it turns out there's a market for good cleaning/filling tools. I think that's cool. I just wish I were more of a businessman and/or had more time to take better advantage of it, maybe help pay for some of the hobby that vaping has become. Heck, I could actually see myself doing this sort of thing for a living, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of e-cig companies in Kentucky. :(

All in all it doesn't worry me a bit that something similar is out there now. It's just all the more reason to keep testing and refining and come up with something easier and better. :)

Exhibiting a lot of class and good common sense - as usual. :)

He did, and he did. (one of three winners) :)

I didn't follow that thread, but I cannot think of a better way for a blind person to fill a carto. When I saw that contest, it just made my head hurt after about 5-10 min of trying to come up with some idea:laugh: I knew I wasn't inventive/creative enough to come up with something.

Anyway...I guess a VERY belated CONGRATS are in order!!! Yippie Vapian;)

You are right cindycated. I use 100 proof vodka. I don't use it full strength. Never thought of letting them soak overnight first!!! Wow! Can't wait to try that with my cleaner.

I got my Menthol Burst today! My first impression is that it's good!! I'm not a professional juice taster-only been vaping for a month-but the TH is good. It does seem similar to my Mint from another vendor, maybe not quite as strong a Mint taste, but still good. I don't taste any tobacco in it which makes it nice when I want a change from Rye 4 or Cowboy. I've never tried Menthol Ice, so I can't compare it to that. Anyways, I'll be keeping my cartos of Menthol Burst. When do the 30 ml. bottles of it arrive? Soon, I hope!

Thanks for the advice. I'll use vodka then. And I'll try to be careful of the cartos. I expect to make some mistakes before I get the system going well, but let's hope I can do it right from the start.

correct it definitely looked like it should move..but it is fixed in ....i confirmed that with the factory as well....you have to order it for the size battery you want to use in it.

sure looks like the end piece should move...there's notches for it to move for other batt sizes. Hmmm....dremel anyone?

How is it working for you, I'm very interested in trying that setup

Just got it today. I love how compact it is, even with a bigger delrin DT. Didn't bother tinkering with this clearo and not having any problems. As long as you fill it up to just the top of that black piece inside and don't overfill it, there won't be any leaks into the battery and you can vape it right after you refill. It's also just really light to hold in your mouth. I don't have any 65mm batteries yet, but when I do I expect to like it even more. =D
