:thumb: can't find the bow-down smilie, but as always I bow to kee's infinite wisdom of all things 808 !

lol....you are too kind dear:)

Just thought of another thing....is this a new carto...or has it been refilled MANY times? If it is the latter, it may be more a case of either needing cleaned or tossed (depending on what you do with the cartos). It could just be gunked up from a lot of use.

Another thing that can help...if it is not low batt or overfilled carto....the post on the bottom of the carto....if you take pliers or a screwdriver and turn it counter-clockwise, it will loosen the draw....don't know why, but it works....I don't know if it makes an adjustment to the center air hole, or where the coils are located, but it works....also if the draw is too loose (very airy) and you want it tighter, turn the post clockwise:)

These cartos are made differently from regular cartos...

I wonder if this question should be directed at SteelJan because she has Ripped one of these cartos apart.

i have a question for you guys from a fellow new Volter :) what do think would be causing a hard draw on both of her batteries?

My guess would be an overfilled carto or juice/debris on the switch? anyone else have a similar issue and know the reason or have a fix?

I agree with what's been said already, overfilled cartos or didn't charge the batteries before using, or if she's already refilled it a bunch of times it could need cleaning, or being used to another pv and trying to suck too hard. I have not tried the unscrewing the threads slightly on the underside of the carto, first I've heard, will have to experiment with trying that.

Then I'll add these things:

Don't screw the battery on tight, just snug works best. I actually adjust the draw on my carto by holding the carto in my teeth while puffing it and turning my battery slightly til I get my favorite draw, ensuring it's still making contact enough that it's working. I've seen many youtube videos where someone using a pv will really wrench an atty or carto onto a battery really hard and tight, that's bad, no matter what e-cig you're using.

If you put a heavily colored juice in any carto, it will cause the draw to be harder, it's always best to stick with clear or nearly-clear e-liquids for cartomizers. I gave up on using any heavily colored e-liquids long before the Volt, it'll even gunk up atomizers. Also, if she's using a homemade e-liquid, find out what she put in it.

If she likes using a drip tip on cartos and jammed in a misfit one or long one to where it pushed down the filling, that will cause a stiff draw on these, can kink the silica tube or etc. I noticed this when I disassembled a cartomizer and was putting it back together, I was doing all sorts of monkeying around with things.

If she filled it herself, she needs to make sure to dab the bottom of the carto, even blow through it with a tissue underneath before putting it on the battery. See my carto-refilling video on youtube or earlier in this thread.

Hope this helps.

I wasn't talking about 5V PT (everyone has them). I refereed to 4-4.4V range (it's what most of the ppl use with VV PV).
3.6V is not the "low voltage". This's a beyond low.
Thanks anyway. At least you tried.

I've been asked many times for a design for a vv passthrough and I'll write here what I tell them and try to keep it as non-technical as I can. Bottom line, it's not possible. USB delivers 5V. The electronics to make variable-voltage needs at least 1.5V over the voltage desired to be able to vary it, and it varies it down from there. 5V-1.5V = 3.5V, so 3.5V would be the highest voltage and vary it down from there. That's outside of a desirable vaping range.

If you are wondering then how the Provari uses a 3.7V battery and provides variable voltage, well, that's a totally different set of circuitry. It is using what is called a buck circuit which can increase the voltage. But to do that it is pulling far higher amperage, several times more amperage than what USB can provide.

Now, I have designed an alternative circuit, but it is not for a USB passthrough. It is for a wall-adapter passthrough. In other words, it's for vaping while plugged into a wall socket. But now we are way out of the scope of a USB passthrough.

Hope that helps.

P.S. These Volt batteries measure 3.8V without load on them. That's better than any e-cig of it's size, even better than the standard Ego. The regulated 3.6V is with a load, the cartomizer, and I will tell you, they have definitely balanced the resistance of the Volt's carto with this battery, a great solid vape, for beginners and experienced vapors alike.

Others have weighed in, but I have $.02 in my pocket and imma spend it.

If none of the carto-oriented ideas work, you can check if the battery is the cause by taking the carto off and taking a draw on just the battery until the LED lights. Stop drawing before the timer cuts off, and see if the LED stays on until the normal time out (4-5 seconds?). If it stays on after you've stopped drawing, you've got a juiced battery. While I still wouldn't think that would affect the draw very much, it could "tip the scale" if other things are going on as well.

The fix for this -- assuming it can't be returned/replaced -- might be to put the battery atty-side-out in a t-spinner, with a bit of paper towel at the end. Spin for 15-20 seconds, check the towel. If any juice came out, replace the paper towel bit and spin again until it doesn't. Try the battery again and if that fixes things, great! If not, nothing to lose, so... stand the atty end of the battery in a small flat-bottom bowl with about an inch of just-boiled water for 10-15 minutes, then repeat spin cycle and test again. This might dissolve and remove any dried juice that's blocking the air flow and/or sensor. Repeat until it either works better or you feel like giving up. If it works, give it a good last spin and put the battery in a bowl of rice or silica gel for 24 hours to get the last of the water out.

Again, I don't really think a gunked battery would cause a draw problem all by itself, but if the cartos have been topped off while on the battery or it's gotten juiced any other way, this might help some. It has worked for me with 510 auto batteries before. Haven't done an autopsy on a BMF/V battery yet to see where the sensitive bits are, but with any luck they're on the LED end and away from the air hole.

This sounds like the kind of advice I would NEVER have figured out on my own, so thanks! However, does "dark color" correlate with any terms likely to be used on a juice maker's web site? I don't know if PG is darker than VG (or vice versa); tobacco vs. fruit vs. desert vs. other flavorings; some brands vs. other brands, etc. Also, I you have a dark juice, is there anything you can do to lighten it?

(Maybe this should be asked in a more general forum? Being a newbie is confusing that way.)

Imagine, totally off-topic here but it's a thought for you:

Lots of military folk are in situations where smoking isn't allowed anymore or is severely restricted (Submarines are a specific case I'm aware of). As I understand it, quite a lot of active-duty are getting into PV's now.

Get a jump on some service-specific themed cartos and/or batteries with Army, Navy, AF, Marines, CG emblems on them... Or appropriate battery/carto color combos... I bet they'd sell. ...

I like the idea, but I don't think we can legally put certain seals or emblems on the product....
I would love to get involved though...we do currently ship to Military addresses :)

As I said in my Volt video review, I've tried all pg, all vg, and various pg/vg mixed juices in Volt cartomizers and everything works just fine. So pg/vg isn't an issue. And if you stick with Volt pre-filled cartomizers, and the juices SmokelessImage will be selling soon, obviously you're home free.

But when I was a newbie vaper, I wanted to try all sorts of e-liquids of every flavor. Eventually I found what I liked best and works best and one's I make myself, and have stuck with those ever since. However, if I wanted to try something new I saw or heard about, my first step would be to go to youtube and look for reviews on that juice. Reviewers nearly always hold up the bottles of juice for us to see. Find a reviewer who seems to like the same juices you already do, and then see what else they have reviewed and liked.

Sometimes vendors offer sample bottle kits or ship free samples of something else if you buy an e-liquid off of them. AwesomeVapor does this.

Another idea is that you could always email or call the vendor and ask them if an e-liquid you're interested in is see-through or not. Chocolates, caramels, dark coffee juices, heavily sweetened juices (sucralose is used for sweetening most times) are the ones I've had the most trouble with as far as gunking up.

Yeah, discussions like this is probably best for open forums. On youtube, you can also get into discussions with folks underneath their videos, that's really helpful too.

I have been vaping Maiden Coffee from Gourmet Vapor, it's almost black and super gooey and I've overfilled and gunked up about 3 cartos with it and I will just have to order more because omg.....
