Yea that's what I've been hearing too. And yes all of this is pretty new to me. But would you think something like a low resistance cartomizer would allow you to take SHORTER vapes to get that same amount of vapor?
oh, I wouldn't know, I don't have any experience with anything other than the Volt hardware, I'm sure someone else could answer that one

hey sandysu congrats on starting! now u said u had to take long drags to get a decent amount of vapor compared to an analog. For those who has been using the volt, is this also true for you guys? I'm looking for an ecig where I can take just a 1 second drag, similar to a typical analog drag to get a good amt of vapor rather than those longgg 4 second drags u see people do on YouTube lol.

I've had the "convenience store" e-cigs where it was like sucking a hot dog through a straw to get vapor. I've used the manual eGos where you got more vapor without straining. Now I have the automatic VOLT. You do NOT have to take a long drag off of it to get "smoke". It's the most realistic thing next to smoking. The combination of their batteries with their cartos look and feel "realistic". What's not realistic are the youtube videos where people take an unbelievable amount of time to get a lot of vapor into their mouth before exhaling.

Just to note folks....what makes those HUGE vapor clouds you are seeing is the vg content. and LR carto will produce a warmer hit more so than more vapor. I personally cannot do LR cartos well....they make me cough. I am not sure what the pg/vg ratio is in SI's juice, but there is imo ample amount of vg to give the good vapor even with short hits. If you want more vapor, add some vg, but be forewarned, it will dilute the flavor as well....just my :2c:

I'm with you Chimney....I get plenty of vapor from the volt and volt cartos...even with short hits:)

Edit: As an afterthought....realizing what brought about this topic....the disposables (9 times outta 10) are filled with pg....which results in less vapor but stronger flavor;)

Really, it's kind of a balancing act. You want the coil to get hot enough to make vapor, and to get there quickly if possible. Higher voltage/lower resistance can do that, BUT at the risk of getting the coil too hot, which can in the near term affect the taste and in the long term can result in either burning the filler or wick and/or in more "gunk" from burned juice on the coil itself, which affects taste and performance... To top it off, different mixes of PG/VG, flavors, and the quality and content of the base and flavors all factor in the end result, too.

It is beneficial to realize early on that given the completely different nature of the process, there is currently no eCig/PV technology that is an exact match to burning tobacco in a paper tube. What one must get used to when starting out is that, much as there are different techniques and results involved in smoking a cigarette vs. a cigar vs. a pipe, there is a different technique and result involved in vaping - and even that can change a bit between different types of atomizers, cartridges, tanks, cartomizers, e-liquids, etc.

So... yeah, it's different. But, ultimately better in more ways than one, so it really is worth getting used to and finding the right mix of gear and technique that works to keep you off the real cigs.

One of the great benefits for me is that I now get to find out what this Irish Cream e-liquid vapes like. So if you'll excuse me for a moment. ... ;)

The lonnnnng puffs they take on videos are much longer than what I actual do -- seems they go for 6 or 8 seconds. I go for 2 or 3. Just have to realize these are not cigarettes, so you'll never get the 1 second cloud of smoke. However, once you start using an e-cig, you quickly get used to this new way of puffing, maybe a new way of holding it, but it does become the new normal pretty fast. Seriously, you don't have to do what they do on videos -- I think a lot of that is just for show so they can blow a humongous plum of smoke into the camera. I don't smoke like that.

Hi fellow Volties and future Volties :) Geez it's hard to catch up on this thread everyday, is beginning to take the place of reading the newspaper.

On skins - Have to be careful about how thick it is if the user is using the Smart PCC. The battery fits nice and snug in that recharging tunnel, so adding a skin might make it not fit or stick. If the skin were a slide-on tube instead of stuck-on, that would work though.

My favorite battery is the silver/chrome. I showed off my first one in my How to Refill Volt Cartos video. Very shiny, very smooth & silky, not a rubberized finish, doesn't show fingerprints, must be laquered over the silver finish. Because it's not rubberized, it feels slightly skinnier than the others. It could be personalized really nicely with some translucent stickers or such and maybe still fit in the PCC.

About what Vapian posted couple of posts above - I totally agree. Outside of using the excellently balanced Volt system, you're on your own adrift in an open sea of "mix & match" - it's messy, frustrating, expensive, and you'll have tons of stuff you will never will again use. Been there, done that, got boxes and shelves full of stuff to prove it.

What I'd like to see next is T-shirts! And I think SmokelessImage could run a wet t-shirt contest, er, no that's not what I meant to type..... a T-shirt slogan naming contest! :2cool:

Haha agreed on the contest:p and also with the slide on skin, it would need to be about the same material that the graphic pencils used to come with. Very snug yet removable.

Yeah, that's the ticket. If it was heat-proof, it could be long enough to slide over both the battery and cartomizer if it left breathing holes at the connection. Or heck, a two-piece system, one for battery, one for cartomizer. Interesting!

..... a T-shirt slogan naming contest!

I hereby declare the name of the T-Shirt slogan to be... "Smokeless Image T-shirt Slogan" (or "SITS" for the acronym-inclined). Anything else is illogical. :)

Re: contests, I likes the kind that makes folks think, something more than number guessing and pick-at-random... which no doubt have their place but make for lazy contest-making if that's all there is (not saying that's the case here, I don't honestly know... but you see it all over ECF). It's amazing how creative people can get given a chance, a goal and good motivation.

I think the slide-on skin is a good idea, and I was thinking about it. It should be easy to put on but snug once it was on, so how would that work? Also, it should be removable and replaceable so you could use it with new e-cigs when the batteries and cartos need replacing. Lining up the air holes might be difficult. Where are the air holes? Just in one section? If so, could that part not have a skin? That might make things simpler. I was thinking of something that could wrap around the e-cig and then stick together might work well, but what would stick every time and restick when you removed and replaced it? Velcro would be too bulky and make a clumsy ridge, I think. This is a really interesting concept.
