Hi everyone! What a great super thread! :) I'm so glad to see that it's so active because it makes me think that people really like their Volt! I'm looking into purchasing the Volt ecig and I have a question! I am interested in getting the automatic batteries and since now they are sealed with no hole on the connecting end I'm wondering if you can only use special Volt cartomizers? I hope to hear from you soon! :)
my 808 ce2 and ce3 both work just fine in the sealed volt. I think most standard cartos will. Atties however don't work on them do to lack of are flow...

Welcome, kblush500!
You can use any KR808 cartomizer - that's still what they are - they just moved the holes to where it's harder for liquid to get in there and zap the internals...although a lot of us here prefer the Volt ones. They're awesome! :)

You can use other KR808D1 cartos. Volt and a few others are what they call gen 2 systems. Basically they have a regulated battery that stays near constant voltage throughout the charge unlike gen 1. That means they vape the same from start until just a few puffs before they go dead instead of starting out hot and tapering down. The cartos are horizontal bottom coil as opposed to vertical like the gen 1 and perform a lot better. It's hard to burn them unlike gen 1. Hope I didn't get carried away and sound confusing but the answer is still you can use other cartos. A lot of us have tried that and found the Volt cartos to be superior in both quality and price. Even the gen1 cartos can be used but with varying results. Another option is to use 510 cartos with an adaptor you can buy for like $3 at many forum vendors however don't try to use low resistance cartos with this size battery.

You might want to look up this section as there is a lot of good information on 808s. Welcome to Voltland. Hope you stick around and enjoy.

Battery Question:

I've got a sealed auto battery (of the orange persuasion) which I bought around Thanksgiving. It seems like the threading has gone bad - when I inhale it makes funny noises (like air escaping) and it's hard to get a puff. It's not the carto. Is there anyway to fix this? Anybody else ever have threads go bad?

Thanks!
Hi, Cloud (my favorite Final Fantasy character)-
No biggie. You just have to get at the burnt up crud around the groove where the post is. I usually use a wooden toothpick and scrape around there. Then I poke at the two tiny holes at the side of the thread. Then I pour a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol into the bottle cap and stir it with the thread end of the batt (keep it vertical though). Then give it a thermometer flick, wipe it down, and you're done. If you look closely at the lip of the ash cap, you'll see 2 rectangular notches. Just scrape into it a little with a pin, or better off, pry it out (with your fingernail, a paper clip...they're not glued) and make sure there's no major lint ball in there.

Thank you for explaining that! I've heard really good things about the Volt cartomizers so those are the ones I would start with!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what post? I'm trying to figure out how theses work! :)

Anything you need, just ask.
Volt cartos and the rad colors in MANUAL are what keep me coming back for more, and no where else! They're THAT awesome!

Hi! Thank you for the welcome to Voltland!!! :) You didn't confuse me at all! In fact, you cleared some things up for me! gen 2 sounds amazing how it works! I heard that Volt batteries were gen 2 but i didn't know what that meant! Thank you! :)

The post on a battery is the round thing (look in your photos) in the middle. In the photos one has a hole in it and one is solid with a groove. Those are the positive post on the batteries. Kinda like the button on the positive end of a AA battery.

The battery post is that protruding round nubby in the middle (looking at your pic). You want to clean the channel around that so that there's room for air to flow around in there (which comes in from the two tiny holes on the side of the thread, so don't forget to poke those too). :)

I'm so glad you and others like your Volt so much and that this thread is active! To me, that's the best reviews! :) Tonight I'm going to pass out! Happily though!
