I've got one battery acting a little strange. It didn't shut off after I puffed. I unscrewed the carto and it shut off and seemed to work fine after. It's done it twice now, once yesterday and once today. The second time it trashed one of my prized cowboy cartos lol. I just did the SteelJan maintenence thing on it and hope it works. I'll sure be glad when the cowboy cartos and liquid come in. I'm down to 4 and getting nervous.

It definitely shouldn't be doing that. If you're absolutely sure you didn't get any e-liquid or any other liquid in it, I'd call that a defective one.

I see other's have already answered this but I'll chime in too. I show the inside guts of the cartomizer in my Volt video review. It's a horizontal coil that is seated near the battery connector end. What you popped out was indeed the heating, vaporizing coil, a teeny-tiny piece of coiled wire that looks like a miniature ball-point pen spring. Once that is broken, your cartomizer is permanently dead. It's also the thing that eventually gets crusted up with vaporized e-liquid residue to where your cartomizer is no longer vaping good enough to continue using, that's the end-of-life for a cartomizer or atomizer.

Yes, you watched videos for the old nasty-style of cartomizers, with the vertical coil. They not only had the problem of tasting simply awful, but the air hole down the center, being made only of polyfill, would fall in on itself and close up. Now, some vendors still sell this type of cartomizer but they don't have any idea what they are selling!!

I use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to clean my Volt cartos. Got it for like 5 bucks at a thrift shop. I put a 50-50 mix of pg (propylene glycol) and Everclear or Vodka in the trays and let it buzz-clean my cartos overnight. Next day I rinse them off really well and put them on a tray on a dishtowel to bake in the sun all day long, battery connector side down.

Oh yeah, welcome!!!!!!! Always great to see another Voltie face around the thread!!!
SteelJan, I love you!
And it always makes me feel so smart when I say something that coincides with what you say!
And I've been on the border with ultrasonic cleaners, but now I'm definitely getting one, because that's how SteelJan does it! :)

I just dealt with CS officially about a half hour ago. And they've already responded and have gotten my defective battery issued resolved. Smokeless Image is the only battery company that'll keep getting my money. The products they push are great, the prices are the lowest I can find for said great products, but it's the customer support that makes me confident I've made the right decision regarding PV providers. Great job, you kids over at SI - you've made me a happy camper time and time again.

Sorry for the off-topic interjection, but I just had to get this out there.

These are the codes I have found. MAXVAPOR for 5%off EVAPE10 for 10% off SIVOLT50 for 10% off
the MAXVAPOR works for sure but not sure about the others for I haven't tried them yet. Hope this helps:)

I just tried EVAPE 10 and it worked! I'm waiting to order until next week though when the 30ml. juice bottles come out and the Cowboy cartos are back in stock.

I wondered why those ash-cap holes never came up, I found that out trying to vape hands-free like Molly Ringwold puts on her lipstick in the breakfast club. (Husbands dare us to do the dumbest stuff) .Totally doesn't work. I surmise also that if one were to, say, pop off that ash cap and replace it with, say, a big swarovski crystal that was glued in, that that would plug it up and cause it to not work.

Well, the largest round, flatback Swarovski that I was able to find isn't quite large enough. You need a 7mm. I couldn't find larger than 5mm. The ash cap will pop off (easily or with great difficulty) with a pokie inserted into one of the ash cap notches. Difficulty depends on whether or not there is glue holding it in. I glued the crystal into a gold or silver bevel retaining ring with prongs, then I dabbed a bit of glue on the outside of the prongs (without folding them under the stone) and slipped that into the battery. The prongs only touch the insides of the battery case, not the circuit board. It still leaves enough of a gap that they work just fine. But - I've only done this with 510 batteries. I quit doing it because: #1 Difficulty with handling teeny, tinies and #2, you can barely see the LED flash. It doesn't shine through the genuine Swarovskis. All that flashing infomation is very useful to me, and I don't like doing without it. Even for the sake of bling!

Well I managed to hand out SI business cards to two employees at the hair salon today. I was talking about mine and pulled out the Mega PCC - they were floored that these were so mobile now in the charging aspect. Then they said - how much did that cost....$100 (talking about the PCC). They started throwing out prices for things they looked up of 3-400 dollars. Come to find out the last time they researched it was 3-4 years ago.....that's when the cards came out and they thanked me profusely! Being hairdressers they hate that their hair always smells like smoke. Go back in two weeks and will see if they ordered, if not this time I will make sure I have some "unused" cartos for them to try:) Night all - had an awesome Mommy-Daughter day today and I am pooped!
