Haha. It was SteelJan on YouTube that made me decide a Volt was worth my money. She should get a free pack of Desert Joes! Ha! Kidding, of course... but not really.I'm going to go steal my mom's jewelry cleaner now.

Yep it was Steeljan's reviews that got me to try the Volt as my first hardware too! I was banging my head on my 'puter in confusion over all the complicated recommendations until I could see it all spelled out so simply-SteelJan you are a great reviewer!

"I've got the USPS blues..."

...man, ever since they announced on Tuesday that they were closing branches down, they've really been screwing up. Misrouted first, now misdelivered... never had a problem with them until now. They must've made some secret changes too when they made their announcement...

...OK, I'll give them one more day, then I'm going POSTAL!!!

I'm looking at my tower of Volt cartos that just arrived (50 total!) and cackling maniacally. I see months of totally excellent and painless vaping ahead of me. bahhahahhahhhahahhhah ( I may have had a few drinks).

(also next to my amazing Volt carto stack are 2 510 LR atties and a 306 atty that all cronked out after 2 weeks and taste like garbage, I'm sick of trying to rehabilitate them for my other PVs)

I'll see your 50 and raise you another 25 . . . View attachment 47409

(BTW, on that note - I hope they all work by the time I get to use them . . .)

That is the goal that the majority of this forum seeks. Congratulations on finding it. :thumb:

I see other's have already answered this but I'll chime in too. I show the inside guts of the cartomizer in my Volt video review. It's a horizontal coil that is seated near the battery connector end. What you popped out was indeed the heating, vaporizing coil, a teeny-tiny piece of coiled wire that looks like a miniature ball-point pen spring. Once that is broken, your cartomizer is permanently dead. It's also the thing that eventually gets crusted up with vaporized e-liquid residue to where your cartomizer is no longer vaping good enough to continue using, that's the end-of-life for a cartomizer or atomizer.

Yes, you watched videos for the old nasty-style of cartomizers, with the vertical coil. They not only had the problem of tasting simply awful, but the air hole down the center, being made only of polyfill, would fall in on itself and close up. Now, some vendors still sell this type of cartomizer but they don't have any idea what they are selling!!

I use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to clean my Volt cartos. Got it for like 5 bucks at a thrift shop. I put a 50-50 mix of pg (propylene glycol) and Everclear or Vodka in the trays and let it buzz-clean my cartos overnight. Next day I rinse them off really well and put them on a tray on a dishtowel to bake in the sun all day long, battery connector side down.

Oh yeah, welcome!!!!!!! Always great to see another Voltie face around the thread!!!

Thank you Steeljan for the info. Your videos were the main reason I purchased the Volt as well. I don't remember seeing that little coil thingy in the carto on your video, but it's been over a month now since I watched it and I was so overwhelmed at that time trying to figure which e-cig to buy that my brain was full. I did spot your USB hub on your desk and purchased one just like it to charge all my bats and Pcc's on my desk. It works great. Thank you for all you do, you've helped a lot of people here.

The Desert
Well our mailhandler went out and fetched the mail today and I got my Mega PCC, Watermelon/Chocolate/Blank cartos in to try some stuff with.
Mega PCC came about half-charged, charging it up full now with my English iPhone charger, which seems to be charging it up FAST...probably due to the lower 50 HZ rate on 220v coming off the generator.
The Vanilla/Blank/3 manual batteries/passthrough/Small PCC shipment should be in on Monday (mail doesn't run on Sunday here) along with my Green Tea juice order.
I'm digging the watermelon a little but it does seem pretty tasteless to me. I can smell it though. I figure another week or two and my taste buds should be back to normal.
It's been one week today that I last smoked an analog. With the Volt I no longer need analogs.
Even got to do some happy hours at the US embassy here and all I needed was two batteries and two cartos and I was good to go the whole night.

I did order a Darwin though - but with an 808 adapter so I can still use SI cartos on it with the voltage turned down a bit for a cooler vape. That will be my "going to the range all day/night" PV. I'll have to put it in a case that covers the light-up display so it doesn't kill my night vision or screw up NVGs I might be wearing while tooling around the desert. The camp PV will still be the Volt batteries since they fit perfectly in the little pocket on my uniform that holds the auto knife right alongside it. The passthrough will work at my desk in my hooch plugged into the same Belkin USB hub that SteelJan uses that I've had for a long time now.

Once hte Mega PCC finishes charging I should be able to do some charging testing here to see if perhaps the different HZ rate coming off the generator charges the Mega PCC internal battery any "more" than normal. Remember, these things are made in China where the voltage is 220v @ 50HZ compared to 120v @ 60HZ we have in the states. Even though everything is stepped down to USB power voltages (DC 5v) it could be a factor...it shouldn't but you never know.

Right now my 3rd party iPhone charging cable does NOT plug into the Mega PCC all the way, it's in kind of slanted but in enough that it charges up the PCC so the charging pins on the plug are connected at least. Will try it later with a real iPhone charging cable and see if that works any better.

As for discount codes....I never use them beyond the one I got because my starter kit had no box. I used that one solely because I was missing the box and the discount just about covered any "box costs".
I have no family to support and really no bills anymore and feel that paying the full amount for a) a good product from b) a good vendor is just my little way of rewarding the small businessperson who took a chance on this line of work and provides good service to me.
That way I know he's at least making a little profit off my orders to help support his family and keep growing the business line with newer/more improved products.

Whew...that was kind of long.

Twilight Zone
My wife asked me what I was going to do today. I told her nothing. She informed me that's what I did yesterday. My reply? "I know honey, but I didn't get through."

But I guess I do have to go to the P.O. this morning. I contacted CS about the battery after it fried another carto. Got a response that said mail it to them and when they get it and see that it's defective they'll mail me another. Don't know how that's going to work since the problem is intermittent but we'll see I guess. I'm confident SI will do the right thing.
