Yes! I do have days, 2-3 days back-to-back every month it seems, when no vape tastes right, even new cartomizers. I never knew others were having the same experience! It disappears as immediately and completely as it appeared. In the meantime, I've tried all my different juices, cleaned my batteries, etc. Thanks!

I've read that your taste buds renew themselves every so often. I wonder if this is what's going on.

What I probably need is some head nodding from my friends, that yes, I'm not completely out of my mind. This really doesn't belong in this thread, but if I put this out on the general forum, someone is going to say the problem is with my VOLT, and it isn't. I'm not in the mood to get into that debate...

I'll start by saying that is not the first occurance of this problem, but when it has happened before, I was really new to vaping and ECF and didn't have anyone I felt comfortable asking about the problem. In the past it only lasted for a day, and changing around juices eventually resolved things.

Everything tastes burnt. Every juice, (even grape), ever carto, (even new ones) everything tastes burnt. This has been getting worse over the last two or three days. I've tried everything I can think of. When it started I thought, "hummm... , bad cart". But then another and another, and so I opened a new grape cart... my very favorite of all favorites, but nope, that tasted burnt too. I cleaned batteries, but nope, still burnt. I dusted off the ego and tried dripping several of my favorite juices, nope burnt. I've also started coughing after almost every drag.

I'm four months into this and I'm shaking in my paws cause I haven't ever read of anyone else having this happen. Any ideas on what to do... I'll try anything? What I really want to hear from ya'll is someone to say that this has happened to them and that it's going to go away, or how to prevent it in the future.

So there it is...

Okay...tried to catch up before responding, but want to get this out there before I forget. It is basically "sensory overload". Now I am wondering if you drink a lot of coffee as well.???

A few suggestions....Brush teeth AND tongue well and sometimes more often than usual. I find that carbonated water such as Perrier helps a bit too. Now...I am a coffee drinker and coffee tends to leave stuff behind too....I drink water along side my coffee, and I will occasionally switch up a bit and add some creamer to my coffee to help. Aside from these, everyone else has given great advice....menthols, mints (especially peppermint) are great palate cleansers. Oh, and chocolate sometimes helps too;)

Connie...you will notice changes more often as you cut back on ciggies, there will be some changes to your tastebuds....when quitting completely, the tastebuds start to heal completely and then everything starts changing in flavor.

Just checked up on that. Evidently they regenerate every 24 hrs, so that's probably not the cause.

EDIT: and reading more, I found this... "Olfactory epithelial cells, unlike taste bud cells, regenerate in a variety of time frames, from every 24 hours to days and weeks." So, since part of the "taste" of vaping comes from the nose maybe this has something to do with it.

That happens to me every now and then. That's when I fall off the wagon and go back to analogs. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Well, it's been a little over 24 hours with my volt and I'm loving it! Can't seem to put it down.

Good advice and I do that too. Not a coffee drinker, but do drink tea. Been off analogs for 3 months and still get days like that. :(

Meddog, I just went through that this morning, grabbed a cart with something in it that was fine last night, but this morning it tasted sort of burny, like charred sawdust. Had to switch to peppermint ice cream for today because everything else has a weird undertaste. But I will add that a few months ago even before I quit smoking I was going through a similar issue where I had an odd taste in my mouth that flavored everything I ate and drank for a few weeks, then just mysteriously disappeared. I suspect that smoking in general plays hell with your taste and smell receptors in ways that might vary greatly from one of us to the next. I'm with everyone else who says have a minty backup around, it seems to cut through every time.

gets me thinking...it may not be taste but smell....if you taste e-liquid it tastes bad...but always smells good...and they say smell has a lot to do with taste....

but when you look at perfume and air fresheners ....you know if you smell it all the time...you just can't smell it anymore?

might have something to do with it??

What gets to me is everything else tastes like it should, food, drinks, etc. If what ever it is affects carts why not other things?

Believe it or not, we all do....even those vapers that have been doing it for years. It is a sensory overload kinda thing. Kind of like when you first put on perfume, or lotion, you smell it for a while, then you don't smell it anymore, but others will....or if you spend too much time in the perfume section of a store, or candles, any kinda smell goods...after a while either they all smell the same, or it is very very muted.....that is sensory overload.

Edit:...hahaha...exactly Imagine:laugh::laugh::laugh:

After I saw what Laurae09 was using I liked the way it hung straight/vertically, looked neater...so I made this today-I went with onyx, clear, and transparent beads 'cause I wanted it to match other battery colors I wanna get.

Kinda hard to see with my phone's camera, can't seem to find my usb cord for my digital :( But the pieces sticking out on the bottom by the cart are silver heart charms. I like this one much better than the one I made last night

sinuses play a major role in taste. do have bad sinuses? ear, nose, or throat symptoms? these can effect you taste. allergies can also play a role. a stuffy use or a sore throat will effect the way things taste stuff.
long term analog use does effect our taste buds, but the smoke can cause long term sinus irritation.

just a thought...
