I just finished catching up on the contest thread, and as usual laughing like a fool as I read some of the verses. What strikes me more than the talent of many of the entries is the goodnaturedness (hope that's a word) and good sense of humor that is woven through the entire thread.

Finding the Volt batteries and their unbelievable cartomizers was a great day for me. But finding the people who inhabit this SI thread was an added gift. You guys are becoming more of a daily "fix" than analogs were. Well....almost! LOL

Here, there, everywhere!
They would I'm sure. Here's the thing though, I ordered Friday late night. They shipped Saturday. Will arrive probably Tuesday (because Monday's a holiday). I don't want to call and ask for a discount on something that late in the game. I'm sure they won't be working on Monday. (did I mention it's a holiday)

Two batteries: $26.00
Discount: $5.40
Having a great vendor: priceless

All I have to do is figure out how to make that rhyme, and I'm all set huh?

Maybe....

I missed the sale
But I found my tail....

Interesting. What does "designed expressly for smoking cessation" mean, considering companies are not allowed to claim that?

While the companies that sell e-cigs aren't supposed to claim that, the people buying them certainly can. Whatever the case, it is nice to see that it was specifically called out as not being a tobacco product that would void your insurance discount.

My company has had the same clause for years. I always just said 'yeah I quit a month ago'. (A lie I could be fired for.) This was the first year I could say I quit and really mean it!! My HR dept already said they don't consider e-cigs as smoking. In fact the HR VP even sells them (a crappy brand, but at least her heart is in the right place).

Funny though, it isn't a discount. If you smoke you pay more. Up to $90 a month more. Another thing that I find very interesting, maybe one of you super, senior, ultra, people can help me understand.

"It does not include an electronic cigarette or e-cigarette that does not contain tobacco and is designed expressly for smoking cessation."
What's the difference between an electronic cigarette and an e-cigarette? Anyone else notice that's worded kind of strangely?

I think they were just defining both terms as meaning the same thing. It's like if you said, "A canine, or a dog, is a 4-legged animal." It's just a way of being very specific. I think they did it that way so people who don't know e-cigarette = electronic cigarette will still understand.

But how about the "does not contain tobacco"? E-cigs are considered a tobacco product, even though they don't contain tobacco, since the nicotine comes from tobacco.

I'm seeing possible loopholes if someone wants to use them to still have the surcharge for e-cig vapers.

So I've finally caught up with reading (working on the ambulance today with rock solid internet thank goodness). . . Recently we got this email updating our benefits for the new 2011-2012 school year.

Tobacco user certification coming soon
Under state law, tobacco users will pay higher premiums for their health insurance coverage starting January 1, 2012. From November 7 to December 9, employees and retirees will be asked to certify if they or their covered dependents use tobacco. See frequently asked questions and answers.

So I clicked on the link and copied what I found below. I think you will all find #3 interesting related to recent discussions. Now, this is coming from the state of Texas...

Tobacco User Certification Questions and Answers

3. What is considered a tobacco product?

A tobacco product is defined as cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, dip, or any other product that contains tobacco. It does not include an electronic cigarette or e-cigarette that does not contain tobacco and is designed expressly for smoking cessation.

YAY, TEXAS!!!

Interesting. What does "designed expressly for smoking cessation" mean, considering companies are not allowed to claim that?

That was my immediate question, too . . .

I don't know, that's part of the interesting part though isn't it....
Rick Perry just sometimes makes up facts and then expects reality to follow.
Above is a personal comment having lived with him as gubnor for the last 11 or so years... everyone just let it go...

Well, he is a politician, right? I mean, isn't that kind of a job requirement? You know, like setting CAFE or smog standards . . .:laugh:

I sure hope not. I think recent history, especially as it pertains to e-cigs, has made conspiracy-paranoiacs out of all of us. :(

Sorry I don't really understand all that stuff. I had a techy friend look at it and they said it would work for what I wanted.
Rosepetal, looks like we're good to go with all 7 ports. 120mA (instead of the 500mA I thought it was) x 7 ports = 840mA. ...assuming the wall adapter delivers at least that much juice consistently (mine is rated at 2500mA, yours is at 2000mA). Thanks, SteelJan. I was hoping you'd jump in and answer this one.
...dang, I guess I need more dongles now!

I REALLY liked it!!! :headbang: Rave did a great job people. You have GOT to read it.

Now they all don't have to be that good. Don't let rave intimidate you. :) Just one verse would be enough. I am going to save them all and post them as one poem on here when we are done.

I hope Imagine doesn't end up saying " Now Connie, be good" like my moma was always doing. (Now you know where my nick came from.)
I know you all won't believe it but I could be a little devil at times. :p

Couch, cupholder in the car, makeup bag, computer bag... I ordered two more. I give up. Here's the really sad part...
I did a super fast order at work, but didn't read ecf first and totally missed out on the sale.
And that's what you get for running out the gate every time it's opened! poor, poor meddog. Literally.

POOR :( - "meddog" - missed again  - needs better training :glare:. . .

"medddog"- Needs to remember - "PAPER" . . . .

More importantly, that "meddog" should never do, what you shouldn't do, when you should be doing it where you know you can do it best - at home and when there is time :D (Okay, that may have been a little "convoluted," but if you really think about it you just might get a laugh anyway).

<<<<<<<< TEXT DELETED >>>>>>>>

EDIT: DUH ! ! ! ! ! - "meddog" (and others) already thought of my suggested solution - still leaving beginnign of post just for FUN ! ! !

OH YEA - HAPPY LABOR DAY - Everyone ! ! !
Be you at View attachment 52627 or at the beach View attachment 52628 Hope you are having a really GOOD Time :D
