Now yer talkin'!!!
Hehehe. Well yeah, that is the reason I call myself "Darkstar" - Grateful Dead song, if you happen not to know

But I really listen to everything from the early days (Kinks, (pre-StevieNicks) Fleetwood Mack, Yardbirds, etc) to the Psychedelic/Jam Scene (GD, Quicksilver, Spirit, etc) to harder and even later rock (Zep, Tull, Mountain, Sabbath, ACDC, etc) and most in between! Never be a time like it - the creativity and desire to push the limits is unbelievable.
I still enjoy listening to these bands. I'm sorry to say that we have no radio stations that play this genre exclusively anymore. Every once in a while, I'll hear a Sound Garden or AIC hit on a station that claims to be alternative rock. If I want to listen to Tool, I have to remember to bring my iPod with me whenever I go anywhere.
As do I really, and I actually have a bunch of my old CDs still in my car just in case. Was even listening to Tool/Undertow just the other day (long drive, and perfect music for that) and (although they are on the lighter side of that scale) have a copy of Blind Melon in one of my cars CD slots currently.
Much of it is a lot better then people used to give it credit for, and eventually I hope it gains some of the mainstream longevity popularity it probably deserves. Which is ironic really, because it became pretty "mainstream" when it shouldn't have been and has now lost it completely when it should have such as a reflective status.
(sad to say, we still haven't figured it out for you Kurt
