Rustling your timber...

Yeah - It wasn't so funny though. They took down quite a few huge black walnuts and several acres looked like a war zone. We were extremely unhappy. We only caught them because we weren't living here at the time, and happened to arrive for a camping vacation. Although we were able to get compensated for the timber it didn't help the devastation. Still don't trust those ornery neighbors.

Large black walnut trees are valuable. I bet they sold them. We had a large stand of black walnut on the farm where we lived for a while. They were worth an amazing amount of money, but there was never any idea about selling them. Some things have a value greater than dollars.

I couldn't agree more. Yeah - They sold 'em, but we ended up getting the money after we told the loggers that they were cutting down our trees.

When you first said they rustled your lumber I thought they had just cut some firewood. That's a real shame about the walnut trees. It's hard to believe they were selling your trees to a logger. That's stealing!

Completely off-topic, but it just cracks me up. I just had to call the dairy farmer a few ravines over. A tree must have fallen on his fence cuz my woods are full of cows!

I wondered how he was gonna round 'em all up but I soon got my answer. As soon as they heard the chainsaw runnin (he had evidently found the downed tree) they all went running toward the sound of it!

Yes, they are. I have a friend who sells his a couple at a time (and has LOADS!) to the firearm companies. Keeps him in retirement money! I missed my chance on some acreage in Arkansas that had loads of Black Walnut and was $1700 an acre. Really burnt my backside!
