I've already discussed this with eJoker, and I told him that while he doesn't see a problem with it, if anyone brought up ANY concern with it, I would close it immediately until such time as it is no longer a conflict :)

I do, however, have a few obligations to meet as far as that goes (reviews), so I will close the thread as soon as I meet those obligations. I will immediately cease donations, however.

I don't want it all, I really don't want anything, except to help out any way I can.

Closing it wouldn't be that simple... people gave you money and donated items and such. So wouldn't closing it be an issue when you have had items and money donated for a purpose!?!?
I mean, how do we know how much was donated, etc!? I haven't seen any contests that were supposed to happen or anything either!? I'm so confused

I think hes trying to say hes going to do what he has promised with what he already has, but will no longer be taking donations.

then that is pretty stand up...:toast:

I do agree that losing the thread altogether might not be the right thing to do either

Well, if people have no problem with me keeping it open, I would much prefer to do that :)

But for the time being, I will definitely cease taking donations from the community. I will, however, still take donations from vendors that want reviews, and continue BAU, assuming no one has issues with this :)

what i was saying, is appoint someone else if you are gonna be top mod...dont lose an entire review thread

Elaborate a bit more on this, I think I may know where your going with it, but I wanna be sure :)
i am saying that the review thread doesnt need to disappear, but if you are going to continue with the mod position, then maybe someone else should run the review thread. Like I said in a previous post, top mod (power) + review threads/donations (money/goods) = disaster.

While I'm not directly involved with the PIF thread I did work with Jules on getting it set up in its own forum at the beginning and I'd like to make a general statement to both those who are the moderators of this group and to the members in general:

To the moderators: As a mod, all you can do is make the best decision you can with the information available to you. Realize that with any decision you make that there will always be a segment of the members who disagree with your decision. The sooner you can accept that, the better off you will be. And do not put your decisions up for a "vote". Moderating is not a democratic process. Presumably you are a mod because you judgment is trusted and you have the best interests of the group in mind. If you made your decision with these factors in mind, then own it and move on. Certainly if you become aware of facts that you did not know at the time you made your decision then feel free to take a second look at it. Otherwise, don't second guess yourself.

To the members: You will not agree with every decision a moderator makes. If you feel you have a legitimate beef, then contact the moderator privately to discuss your concerns. I can only speak for me, but if you want to whine an complain about every decision in the open forum, then you stand very little chance with me. You can say almost anything you want to me, as long as it is done in private. Keep in mind these folks are volunteers. Doing their best to make this forum as enjoyable as all for as many members as possible. Sometimes a decision made for the greater good will have a negative impact on you as an individual. If you can accept this happening on occasion and shrug it off, everyone will be happier.

Just my:2c:

Would putting someone else in charge of the goods be an acceptable substitution? Or maybe put someone else in charge of the contests? I'm pretty much of the opinion to cease cash donations (I've been considering this long before taking a mod position FYI), it just presents TOO many opportunities for me to be "under question" if you take my meaning.

I just joined up a day or two before whatever happened, happened and I haven't participated yet, but I am a man with authority granted to me in other areas of life. To delegate authority out to others is a vital part of leadership. With your work schedule and new baby in the house (congratulations by the way) you can not and should not try to do it all. I for one would suggest putting others in charge of certain aspects of PIF. Those people would answer to you if they are involved in a dispute. You would still be the head, but they would help bear your load and take some of the pressure off of you.

As I said though, I am brand new here and do not know the specifics of how PIF works. I only suggest this from the viewpoint of it being a leadership position.
