OG Mini Auto Firing

Just received a rebuilt 14500 Mini.

Made an 8 wrap 1/16th ID micro coil and put in my battery to test fire it. It started firing on it's own and continues to do so with the button locked and as soon as I put the battery in.

Thinking the new gold spring might be too big for the 14500s?

Nope....swapped to a silver spring and it continues to auto fire...using new AW IMR 14500 batteries 650mah

Take the battery out and look at the contact. Is it moving down when you push it? Staying down or returning up so it does not make contact? Sounds like your contact is the problem.

^^^^what Karen said. Sounds like the firing pin might be broken or bent. I'm betting broken.

I literally took the mod out of the padded evnelope from rob a few minutes ago...doubt anything is broken.

It's just that as soon as I put a battery in, it makes contact with the firing pin.

Kind of fixed it, ended up clipping the spring a bit smaller and then stretching/mashing it to be the right height.

Now I just have a ton of battery rattle and it falls right out when tilted with the door open.

Does the OG Mini use a smaller spring then the gold ones? Makes no sense... its just putting the battery too high up and I can see my button get raised while its firing.

the battery cant go higher than the bottom of the plastic delrin insert. When you have the battery out the firing pin should be ABOVE the opening when at rest then when pushed should go down the opening and touching the battery. If the firing pin is to low than it is either bent or broken. You can take the delrin cover off and check the placement of the firing pin at the nipple. Should be all the way up as far as it can go on the 510 coonector.then go straight across with no bends.

WOW, I just realized, there is no delrin insert like in my Grand. I guess bottle/tube kits and delrin inserts aren't part of a mod rebuild.

You need that panel! That's what keeps the battery in place on top and compresses the spring.

Just a bummer, was going to give it to my buddy at work tomorrow and now I feel like a dummy after not realizing it had no delrin insert before making this thread. lol

Robert can/will only do what is requested when a REO is sent to him. For a regular rebuild of the connector a delrin insert is not part of the "kit". But the tube/cap and bottle, spring, center post, button and contact are included.

You should PM Robert and tell him what you requested and what was done. He needs to know these things. He does have employees and sometimes errors are made.

Rob Assumed you removed the insert . I dont put them in if a mod comes without them we put one in as a temp to test it and send it back without a insert . I will have to dig around the shop I may be out of them

Yes, when I sent my mods to Rob to install the new connectors I removed all the old stuff and kept the Delrin inserts and doors at home too. Then I washed the mods real well and put a piece of painters tape with my name on each mod.

So essentially Rob just got the mod body and a note requesting new 510 connectors be installed in each mod. I let him know I had the Delrin and doors at home

Should be S.O.P. For anyone sending in a mod . I like to show Rob respect by sending him clean stuff and to only leave the stuff I can't do myself for him so he can get on with building mods

That sucks that you got a mod without an insert tmel bro. I hope Rob is able to dig one up fer ya.
