It seems like a lack of education to the general public. I believe that's one of the reasons that people are blindly being told how harmful "Vapor" and "vaping" is. One time I was at a bar, and a non-smoker sat next to me. As back when I smoked cigs, I tried to direct my vape away from him. After about a half hour, he became interested after watching me through the corner of his eyes. He asked me about vaping and I cut loose with correct information and educated him. His comments were: "Ya know, ya really can't smell that thing" and "Good for you, glad you quit smoking" "I'm gonna talk to some of my friends that smoke".

On a more personal side, as Libbydude says: "The people in my life that care about me are happy to see me puffing on a battery."

I get so frustrated with people and trying to keep them informed.. I am Sick of hearing , "Wow thats a lot of Smoke" Or Go take your Smoke break" and calling it smoking flat out! I get sick of repeating my self ... Finally my Mother Inlaw has gotten the language down.. Vape shop not smoke shop and vapor not smoke, I wish others would finally get it! Anyone else having this issue??

After seventy years of watching and listening to people, I have become surprised to find a person with knowledge. Ignorance is so easy.

Well with all the talk on how some people want to label it with smoking and some anti smokers out there that say its worse, I think we should be mind full and not use the smoke talk cause that kinda sets us up in the smoking category ... I always use Vape and vapor or clouds. My Doc was the one who suggested I switch to vaping due to health issues with smoking and getting older. she was very up on the info on vaping and told me it has better benefits than the patch. she has had seen to many people have stokes with patches and over loading on the Nic with gum. as far as the stop smoking meds they can be bad for some one with certain health issues. She does nag me that as soon as I get down to 0 nic I need to pic a quitting date.( ummm ya maybe lol)

You might get her to change her mind about quitting vaping after getting down to zero nic, that is if you ever want to, by simply telling her that vaping is satisfying that hand to mouth habit. If you gave that up, you would be probably feeding your face and gaining weight, which would then cause more health issues.

Just food for thought. ;)

Am I the only one that isn't just randomly vaping around strangers or even people I know (other than my wife)? I vape when I'm by myself in my truck. I vape in the house when the kids go to bed. I vape outside on the weekends when the kids are around (don't really want them seeing me do it and asking questions). I basically vape like I smoked.

I too, vape like I smoked: walking down the sidewalk, waiting around at the bus stop, standing outside with the other smokers when we go to the bar...I never hid from the public eye when I was a smoker (well, not once I was of age, anyway) and I see no reason to do it now, as a vaper.

"Smoke" is as accurate as "vapor", i.e. not at all. It's an aerosol, not vapor, unless you use a leaf vaporizer. Calling it vaping is just ignorant.

Actually your comment is ignorant! every shop I have been to calls it Vaping, all the knowledgeable people I have seen or watch their videos, read their blogs and all their work on Vaping call it Vaping NOT Smoking. or Vapor Not Smoke... it is the people who do not have a clue that call it smoke and smoking.. No need for rudeness that's not why people are here. there here cause we all have 1 thing in common and to support each other!

Vapor is a common, though misused and inaccurate word. Like 'kleenex' or 'saran wrap'. (TM's should actually where they should be I guess)

Calling it vaping is just ignorant.
The action of vaping is using a PV, which produces, vapor.

I vape everywhere except in stores, I treat it like smoking. If you can't smoke then you shouldn't vape just my way of thinking. The only place i feel uncomfortable is vaping in my truck while driving & the reason being I have an 1pv3 box mod which puts out some nice clouds & I'm more afraid I'm gonna get pulled over by the police thinking im smoking a .... bc of the clouds. Other then that my kids (which are 16yrs & older) think its awesome that I've quit smoking.
I dont mind people asking me what I'm "smoking" its called educating someone who doesn't know about vaping. If I put knowledge in the place of uncertainty & could help someone stop smoking then AWESOME.
I try not to call it smoke & have gotten in the habit of just saying vaping or clouds even if there little puffs.

It's still so new-ish out in my area (I live in Northern KY) that I don't really see a lot of vapers unless I'm at a vape store. I keep an eye out for them when i'm out and about but I don't see any. I'm very mindful about it out here but people out here aren't very progressive (And if you are from this area and progressive, my apologies).

The funniest thing so far was when my husband and I were on our way to Atlanta and we stopped in TN for lunch and gas. While he was filling up the car, I was vaping inside of it (I don't like to vape when one of us is driving unless i'm really mindful of the clouds because without a cracked window it can fog up pretty quickly) and so I'm happy, just doing my thing, enjoying the music and my clouds and I look over and there's this lady looking at our car with a horrified look on her face. I'm pretty sure she had no clue what I was doing or she thought it was something worse than it was.

    I just like to laugh though . . . my mom dubbed me "Puffy" after I started vaping and you know . . . I just can't help myself . . . those rootbeer clouds . . . mmm.

People are still more than a tad uninformed in certain areas . . . when I went to visit a friend in Miami, they were selling juice and machines right at the mall at a kiosk and you definitely wouldn't find that around these parts.

As for people calling it "Smoking", I have a short patience. I don't mind explaining something to you but if you're going to insist on calling it the wrong name, then I think that just shows how ignorant you have chosen to be. Anyone who has been around "smoke" vs. a vape pen should be intelligent enough to tell the difference.

I think the people that feel the need to vape everywhere are ignorant. Why do vapers feel that everyone should bow down and accept vaping? Get over it! We're vaping diluted poison (nicotine), because we have an addiction to it. There's no smoking on airplanes or in restaurants and smokers deal with it, so why do vapers think their above these rules? Another post in this thread stated that a man was blowing clouds in Sam's Club and that no one bothered him. Is this a victory for vaping or is it an example of a vaper being ignorant/weak? If I ever see someone vaping on an airplane, I will gladly point the person out to the flight attendants and hopefully he/she gets fined or better yet..arrested:)

Years of conditioning takes a while to get past. Hubby still said smoking for over a year after I had started vaping. He now does call it vaping, but I can tell it is still hard for him to remember. Hmmmm I just figured out how to get him to understand why I prefer to have him call it vaping. He insists I call pop - soda. I was raised in the mid-west where it is called pop, he was raised in the east where it is called soda. I do call it soda now. May have to remind him about this....

But seriously, it was years of conditioning that we now have to overcome. Try not to let it frustrate you. Just remember that you are vaping for you, no one else.

While I don't vape in a store, I do vape other places indoors such as at a bar, concert or sporting event. Fined and arrested for what?

I counter any talk of quitting vaping with the fact that I don't want to go back to smoking.. and if I quit vaping, that risk goes up exponentially. It's a REPLACEMENT, not NRT.
