So I am a fan of the idea that a mech mod would allow me to continue to vape even if the Zombie Apocalypse occurs or, worse yet (IMO) if Big tobacco gets their hands on our industry. I did not want to jump in and buy a designer mod before getting my feet wet so I was browsing around, heck I even replied to a thread with this site, but Vapor Joes had a link to a new product and it looks great, is well-reviewed by the revered likes of PBusardo, and well, I jumped in.

I picked up a SmokTech Magneto, brass version:

Smoktech Brass Magneto - 101 Vape

And picked up a 490 (so I can kick) and a 650 battery from the same site.

I found the kick2 in stock at AltSmoke so I ordered that too. Definitely looking forward to it and for $35 for the MOD, I feel like I couldn't have done much better to try it out. I'm not going to get into subohm yet, I need to learn my way around the Kick2 and a mech MOD in general but what the heck, everything I've tried so far has been an improvement in some fashion on the last thing I tried. So, for you veteran mech MOD users out there, did I do OK for my first attempt?

Best,
Todd

I think with the kick2 you can drop to .5 ohms, not sure what the amp limit is though. Get some good batteries also!

Picked up an efest IMR 490 and I have AW/efest IMR 350's both button and flat top so I think I'll be OK. I wanted to wait until I had amassed a decent collection of good IMR batteries (and yes, I know AW > efest) with the ability to supply loads of safe current before I took the plunge. I've been reading!

When you get into sub-ohms, you will need a better battery than a 18350. AW18350 has an amp limit of 6 amps. a .5 ohm coil at 3.7v runs you above that just a slight bit. You would be much better off getting an AW 18650 which can go up to 15 to 18 amps safely.

Remember to always make sure you batter can handle the amp draw. Just because it says AW does not mean they all qualify for sub-ohm vaping.

Good luck.

Got the Magneto today, really liking it on just a 2 ohm microcoil in my Russian or with my Fogger V2. I also got a Kick2 (the evolv version) and I cannot get it to work to save my life. I'm using a 490 IMR battery at the moment. I have two of the Orbtronics 2900 mah 650's on the way but I don't know that I'm even going to venture into subohm territory at this point. Back to the Kick2, everything I've read says it should work but it just isn't. Really not a big deal since I have other VV/VW APV's on hand but just wanted to try a comparison...
