We're down to 71.4 cents per litre in Ontario Canada. Which is just a little higher than when I bought my car 7 and half years ago! I'm likin' it! I remember always filling up if it was under 65 cents/litre.

Whats a Litre?
Oh that's right it is the measurement the rest of the world uses.

Grrrrr. I drive a VW Jetta TDI with its thrifty diesel engine (40 mpg). Diesel is easy to refine and America has enough refinery capacity to produce all the diesel this country needs (unlike gasoline). So why is diesel $2.59 a gallon today? Gas is about $1.40. Hope those pigs in Chevy Suburbans, Cadillac Escalades or Ford Excursions are happy with this unfathomable disparity.

Since all big rig trucks run on diesel, most military vehicles, most city and county vehicles, school buses .. why are we allowing this ripoff to exist? One way or the other, we pay for the fuel costs in all of the above.

Many countries excise their petrol quite heavily (eg. Australia, Europe) whereas the US doesn't. This makes the US more sensitive to crude oil prices, since as a percentage the price changes more.

On the other hand, China subsidizes their petrol to a fixed price.

Crude oil producers will always keep their price below the threshold at which electric cars become relatively economical, so I don't think it's realistic to hope high oil prices will dissuade us from destroying the planet.

I thought if you (a business) accepted Visa/Mastercard you could not charge more for a CC transaction? Have not run into this in OK yet.

Yep. They can get away with it. The Attorney General says it's allowed. The problem is that they post the price in large print to pull in traffic, and in way smaller print is the fact that you have to pay cash - which you don't notice until you've filled your tank half way with your credit/debit card at the higher price.
