It does seem to differ from oil to oil, since none of them are really "oil" in the biological or culinary sense. They aren't fats, but some of them have molecules that either don't mix well or don't vaporize well. You could even say Tobacco Absolute is an "oil" in this sense because it doesn't mix well except with alcohol. Cinnamon oil is a good example of one that most people haven't had any problems with. laborer75 is correct in terms of not using oil-based flavorings, which are literally flavorings dissolved in the fatty kind of oil. For example, almost all of FA's flavors are available either in PG or vegetable oil, but we only use the PG-based ones.

I use "oil" based flavorings as well and do not have any problems with my atomizers. Peppermint is one of my favorites and I too have used Lorann's and now Faires Finest peppermint oil (FF's is cheaper). The only thing I do differently is use 20-25% VG in my mixes when I use "oil" based flavors. When developing a mix I find it best to add a little and let it age a day test it add more if needed. This gives it time for the flavor/oil to fuse into the PG/VG. I didn't follow this procedure at first and found my mixes to be too strong after sitting for at least a day. I bought some clove juice from DIYFLAVORSHACK before starting DIY and she used what looked like all VG and the clove oil separated badly on top of the VG. I learned from Dawn's mistake.

The "oil" based flavorings you speak of only have a hint of pepermint oil in them. The majority of the flavoring is not oil based. If it was all oil, it would never fuse together with pg or vg. You would continuously get the oil seperating no matter how long you let it sit. People who think they are using oil becuase thier flavoring has a small trace of a oil substance are misguided. Real oil bases will NOT mix.

I put about 1ml of pg and 1 ml of everclear 151 in a bottle then added 1ml of LorAnn's orange oil. About a week later I siphoned off .5 ml of what was floating on top and the rest, while not the strongest tasting, had a nice orange flavor. I'm gonna try again with maybe 2ml of the orange oil to the same amount pg & alcohol.

I'm not even positive of it being "oil" , but the fact that it's listed as not water soluble or something along those lines (can't remember exactly what the website said) makes me a little wary of vaping it. Personally, when I think of vaping "oil" I get an unpleasant visual, lol.

I'm not even sure if what I'm doing is in fact removing any oil at all . Heck, it could have just been the water content of the alcohol picking up color and floating on top, lol

I should also add, that I made a 1ml test batch with the flavored pg/alcohol mix @ approx. 5% flavor and it vapes fine and taste mildly of orange and has not separated in 5 days.

You are mistaken, oil is not water soluable, but VG and PG are not water and mix just fine. I have used pure clove oil, anise oil and others they do not seperate. Besides most oil you use is so concentrated that I do not recommend more than 4-5 drops per 10ml. I have used and still use clove oil and I have some liquid over 4 months old that has not pooled and taste just like the day I mix it. I do recommend a small amount of PGA like .5ml to help the oil difuse in the VG or PG. I have used my oil mixes for months will no higher failure than regular oil free juices.
Just my 2 cents.

Holy hanable, that is 33% oil, I would recommend using only 4-5 drops per 10ml, forget the 151 as 151 does have water in it (25%) and will seperate out, I have seen this when trying to make menthol concentrate from menthol crystals and vodka. I would recommend PGA as there is virtually no water in PGA.

I'm confused, yes I know nothing new.

This question is coming from my very limited knowledge on making lotions. Aren't VG and PG both water and oil soluable? I don't make lotion very often and use something other than these 2 things, but I know I would still add them to the water phase. (so maybe I'm wrong)

My 2nd question is if VG and PG are only water soluable then couldn't we find a simple emulsifier that is atty safe? (and human inhalation safe)

off to crawl back under my rock.

anything over 151 is illegal is fl. and i don't live close enough to the GA border to pick some up over there.

I'm not using straight oil. rather using the drops from the weird mix in it. literally just drops of the diluted mix of 151 & pg mixed with .5ml of 25mg nicotine and .45 of PG.

figured orange oil, would in fact be oil. feels like the olive oil in the pantry. and doesn't dry on paper. And yes I tested to see if it would stain or evaporate. PG left a "water" stain, but the orange oil looked exactly the same as when i dropped it on the paper. If that makes sense

Not good at math, so there's no way I can figure out the exact oil mix in the pg & 151. but I did skim .5 ml off the top of the mix before i mixed it with the nicotine & pg (I think I used 2-3 drops total). It has to be pretty weak, because it barely taste of orange, kind of like hint of orange.

I'd much rather find a water soluble orange flavor. But on the bright side, I do have a sample of PA's water soluble lemon coming, so maybe that"ll be the citrus fix I want.
