Ok, I have had it with the Vision Vivi Novas. What now?

I got tired of the finaky novas myself. I use plain and boring dual coil cartomizers. I dont need the fancy tanks though I realize they serve a purpose too. Smoktech dual coil cartos...just keep them wet....they never burn, no dry hits, no tinkering and loads of vapor!! and if you treat them right they will give you a good couple of weeks!! Just my :2c::vapor:

Even after completely and properly pre-filling a cartomizer, in a tank or not, the top polyfill is going to become dry with successive vaping. This is normal and unavoidable (unless you frequently top it off), and under most circumstances doesn't matter much.

Yah. That was what I realized after I thought about it. Capillary action will pull it up a little (if at all) above the level of the juice in the tank, so even properly primed and unused it will eventually dry out the top of the fill. I just didn't find it anywhere in the "intro to tanks" stuff I was reading, but I did find a lot of talk about how important it was to prime it just like a 'standard' cartridge.

Thanks for the confirmation! :)

i have also had this issue...i am interested in the shroud removal process...I have way to many Novas to just trash them, is there a recommended way to remove the insulator..i did pull one off after a burnt taste and sure enough it was charred and black...I have no idea how it happened because it was brand new 2.4 used on a 3.4V Ego 900mah ...I agree with Baditude ..its there for a reason could it be that the demand for these devises has resulted in production flaws or a material change?

Hey guys, I just started vaping a month ago with a ProVari Mini w/ cartos. They were good tasting (to a vape newbie) but out of the 10 that came with my initial delivery, 4 of them did not work, E2 error codes. I'm sure me not steeping for more than 10 minutes on some of them and putting in more than 15 drops in some cartos (after they absorbed into the cotton) had something to do with that... but that's neither here or there. HA! Didn't bother to research the filling techniques/tips from ECF on my initial order and I paid for it, it won't ever happen again.

So now I'm on 2 Vivi Nova 3.5ml tanks now and I don't notice a "burnt tate" or taste diminishing yet, either becausethe... atomizer? inside is still not in need of replacement (it came with 2 inside the box) OR because I've never tried a steel wick. This thing so far, has never leaked, tastes pretty damn good compared to those cotton filled cartos AND they're probably gonna cost me about $5 a month to replace the parts that die eventually, if that much. I can't find a bad thing to say about them.

I think I'll get one too and try it out anyway. If you say the taste is superior to the Vivi... wow.

It's official... I'm a full-time ECF addict.

The vision novas and stardusts were a God send last summer when the QC of cartos went south. So stash those Novas in the zombie box, you may need them someday.

Understand that everyone has their favorites, and I guess I'm no different. So here they are

    from left to right:
2ohm boge lazer drilled carto in a J-tank on an unregulated 3.7v PV
3ohm boge lazer drilled carto in a J-tank on a VV PV at about 4.5v
1.7ohm atty or carto on a bottom fed mechanical 3.7v PV

I like mine when I'm at home but hate it when I'm out and about.... go figure.

I have a Vision Vivi Nova 2.5 and am getting a horrible burned taste. I have read and read and read on this forum and haven't found anything that worked to stop it, short of re-wicking. But, I'm not quite ready for that yet.

So, I'm tired of messing with this thing. At least right now. I just want something to use that doesn't taste burned.

I do want a tank and was looking at IB-tanked. I don't know if those are good or not. So guys, will you please just recommend something to me that actually works that doesn't smell like something is burning inside?

Thank you very much, in advance. :)

The burning taste is probably from the little ring of foam (or whatever it is) around the coil. Cut it out of there and the burned taste will likely go away.

For what it's worth, I have been using the Vision Vivi Nova for 3 weeks and once I fingered out how to get that ring from around the coil I haven't had a burned taste. I love it, it's easy to fill and keep clean and the taste is out of this world!

I have been using my mini nova for about a month. I agree... The clearo's are just too finikie for me... It's hit or miss. Up until now I was happy with the mini nova. Now all of a sudden it has begun to leak from the bottom to the battery & I am getting crap vapes now. I just got a carto tank. Hopefully this is a cleaner vape & less of a hassle.

Until it get here I have to continue to suffer with this shot mini nova. My kanger t3 was crap from the start.

Well, no cotton or silica wick is meant to last forever. If you don't want to bother re-wicking or changing heads every few tanks, you really might be better off with a different system.

Carto tanks are great, but, there too, you have to switch out the cartos regularly if you don't want things to go south in a hurry.

I used to think rebuilding things was only for super-duper, ultra-clever technical wizards, but it really isn't. Once you get it down it's really not bad. I can rebuild a dozen heads in half an hour - that's enough for a whole week of 100% sludge-free vaping - and I'm just about the klutziest person on earth.

    :)

I have been using the Novas for a while now. I change the head about once a week but I found that I have to turn the voltage down as the week goes along to keep it from burning up. It works, but I bought a DCT tank a couple of weeks ago. Now I only use the Novas on the twist batts and the DCT on the Provari. The DCT leaks a bit from the bottom sometimes and the Novas don't so I use them when I go out.

I have an extremely short attention span and require a lot of novelty. Accordingly, I rotate devices almost every other drag (hint: having a number of batteries going at the same time cuts down on having to screw things on and off ;)) Right now I'm using 3 different kinds of carto tanks, a vivi mini nova, a "Stardust"-type (CE4) clearo and a Phoenix bottom coil carto/clearo hybid (I can't find my Kanger). I also drip (LR306), although not at the same time...

Each system has it's pros and cons; plus, personal preference is a major factor. Carto tanks are my hands down favorite for consistency and ease. Dripping is my favorite for tasting flavors, and for when I need ritualistic behavior to calm down. The Phoenix has blown me away as a little thing to use when I don't want to fill up a whole tank. Vivis have a lot of fans, but I haven't found them to be any more satisfying than CE4s. YMMdefinitelyV
