Ok, I have had it with the Vision Vivi Novas. What now?

Why? Because of better flavor and consistancy.

Think about how the two systems are set up. A vivi nova or T3/clearomizer only has 2-4 string wicks delivering juice to the heating coil. That's a very small surface area when compared to a cartomizer which literally bathe's the heating coil in juice by the surrounding pollyfiber wick. Thats probably 10 times the amount of surface area delivering juice to the heating coil.

I have a Vision Vivi Nova 2.5 and am getting a horrible burned taste. I have read and read and read on this forum and haven't found anything that worked to stop it, short of re-wicking. But, I'm not quite ready for that yet.

So, I'm tired of messing with this thing. At least right now. I just want something to use that doesn't taste burned.

I do want a tank and was looking at IB-tanked. I don't know if those are good or not. So guys, will you please just recommend something to me that actually works that doesn't smell like something is burning inside?

are you sure you had a vision and not a knock off? I thought I had vision too but it was a knock off. I don't have any problems with vision. I love them!

which carto tank do you use and where do you get it?

There are generics all over, but the best I've found are Valley View. Delivery time is long (its just one guy) but well worth the wait. Polypro is safe for all juices, or spend more for pyrex. (My polypros are all side-fill, but the pyrex ones I'm waiting on aren't - I have a couple of different fill tools so the side hole is unneeded..)

Boge cartos (he sells them, as does half of everyone else) are pretty well reviewed and so are smoktech. (I've got boges in mine so far, but smoktech on the way.)

It's a Vision Vivi Nova, so it's not a knockoff. I have tried 2.4, 2.8 and the 1.8 ohms that came with it. My replacement heads are 2.4 and 2.8 ohms and they aren't knockoffs, either. Early-on, I did vape a lot at around 4.5, then read on here that this might be too high and impacting the flavor, so I have been vaping lately at 3.4. Once it starts on a new head, it doesn't go away, so I must have been confusing on that. I do rotate my e-cig to make sure the wicks are getting plenty of juice. I even tried taking off the silicone cap, but whatever must have already been fried.

So, I guess I am frustrated. Maybe later at some point, I will revisit them and try re-wicking. I unfortunately bought a lot of replacement heads, so I probably will see if I can salvage this deal at some point. But, for right now, I'd just like something that works and doesn't taste like a tire.



Would you please clarify what you mean by vaping it with too much power? I understand too much voltage, but since you listed this as an "or", I'm not sure what you mean.

It sounds like your problem is with the wicking. I have been using Vivi Novas for over 4 months now and got a batch of replacement heads where I had this problem. The problem is the silicon piece that fits over the head. When you put the top cap on, it is pressing the silicon piece and mashing it over the wicks, and the wicks can't wick properly. Try trimming a bit of the silicon piece to make it shorter. Worked for me anyway.

Yes, and noone's being truthful about every purchase being a ticket for the vaping lottery. There's a million to one chance you might "win" something that actually works.

Sorry about the rant... bit tired of buying brand-name What's-worked-for-me-for-months™ stuff that don't work without a lot of fiddling about. Main reason for aggravation is that I'm not only looking for something I can use, but something I can recommend to others who'd give up the second gear don't work as expected.

If you really want your Novas to shine both mini and reg, you should look into rebuilding your own wicks, it really makes the nova shine when you put a good cotton wick in them instead of the silica one, or even a bamboo one. I order my wick material from high desert vapor. They are some cotton wick made from cotton balls or a piece of gauze either, they are quality wicks, just order a couple different gauges of kanthal or nichrome, I am using 32 gauge kanthal and making around a 2.5 ohm head. Best method I have found so far to help with wrapping them to where they are not too tight or too loose, is to take to sewing needles and rest the wick material on them and then wrap about 4-5 coils with a little space between, and BAM you Nova becomes a super nova, tons of vapor and tons of flavor. Make sure you let the wick soak up fluid before firing it up, dry burns with cotton are a bad thing

Oh and dont forget to trim a little of the silicone where the wicks are and bend out the top of the head alittle, like how Psubardo does in the Nova vid he made

Used to have burnt taste issues with my vvns.....last few months they have all worked perfectly. Definitely remove that little insulator piece that is around the coil.....many times when that is burnt it just imparts the taste to everything else. When you dry burn it take a quick look at the coil...are all wraps glowing red at once??? The vivi is just a low end version of the higher priced rbas.....and the key to those coils is having each wrap on the coil spaced perfectly to avoid any hot spots. So you might have to grab a toothpick and gently poke the coils around so they all glow evenly. And last is the wicking issue.....once I trimmed about half the length of the wicks off (trim them to just below the big groove on the center post) and unraveled them a bit they have worked perfect.

I'm on a quest to find stuff I can recommend to people who are not at all interested in a new hobby, but a new and cleaner way of getting their cig fix. I am grateful for the advice, tho. I can manage some messing about. Problem is I haven't found one system I can safely tell, i.e my friends old dad, "this is a great alternative to cigs and you might find you like it even more".

Rebuildables are for the hobbyist. No offense, I got my fiddly hobbies. I'm looking for the buy-and-you're-done setup.

Vision CE-style clearos. Vivi/Mini Nova, Smoktech dual-coil cartotanks, Kanger MT3s. Just not consistent enough quality for me to recommend to anyone, unfortunately. Seems all of the mentioned pieces is down to luck of the draw for a couple of days of non-fiddling. After that, It's either buy a new handful and hope one is good, or start building coils and wicks.

That and a couple clearos that you can clean to test liquids is pretty easy to get started with. If they find they like cartos, they can move on to a carto/tank. If they like clearos, they can try different types.

Seems like sound advice. Any systems in particular? I'm pretty much the guinea-pig here, so I'd like to make an order and try for myself. I've been looking into getting some eGo-T style carto and separate atomizer for trying out on my eGo batteries, but I'm not convinced by reports on burnt taste, etc.

I switch out between at least 10 of them at any given time, each with their own flavor. I do have larger capacity tanks (7 ml pyrex tanks from Valley View Vapes). But since I am primarily using smaller mods now like my Provari and a couple of gripper box mods, I'm preferring the smaller pyrex cartotanks that have a 2 ml capacity.

I have seven of the 2 ml pyrex IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us!, an modified Elegance tank from Hoosier Vapes that has a Phiniac pyrex tube, and some 3.5 ml and 6 ml polypropylene DCT tanks from My Vapor Store 510 Pro DCTank Combo.

All of these smaller size tanks fit and can be organized/transported in the below DIY tank case that I use.

Another No0b here, I have the ego-T system and it is another gamble. One out of three atomizers worked. I have cleaned them with different methods, no cleaning can save the two that tasted burnt out of the box. After cleaning the one that did work, it now gurgles and leaks. I have changed the caps on the tanks many times, not the issue, these things don't last. Have 2 Vivi Novas and both taste burnt and leak. Have not fiddled with them and really don't know what I am doing. Waiting on some cartos and clearomizers and crossing my fingers, again! Still spending less than I would if I were still smoking. Good luck and just keep vaping, just keep vaping.......

The cheapest/best starter kit I've found is from the local shop: Katana Kit

CE4, battery, usb charger, $13.. can add a spare batt and juice and still be around $20.
