Clo, you'll just use more nic base and less PG than somebody who was using 100mg or 60mg base.

I got the 60mg because my goal is 6mg nic base, and this was the easiest math. 1ml nic base per 10ml juice desired.

A lot of people use 100mg for the same reason.

**EDIT**
With higher nicotine content comes higher danger. Make sure you're wearing gloves when handling ANY nicotine. Be safe!
I like 100mg because I can do the math in my head... each percent of 100mg concentrate equals 1 mg of final mix. So a 100ml mix at 3mg needs 3ml of concentrate. For 10ml it's 0.3ml, and so on.

It's also more space efficient in the freezer when you start stockpiling for the vapocalypse :)

Can't wait til I find a good enough recipe to just make 100ml mixes! :D

Just an added note: if you have pets, watch out, that flavoring scent, they can't resist. My cat has decided that my diy desk is the best toy area EVER. I had to get a tool box to lock everything up in because she started trying to pull my ejuice bottles out with her mouth.
Interesting, I have 3 cats and I've watched them like a hawk to see if I need to go through extraordinary precautions. They have never shown any interest at all in any of my DIY stuff. But none of them play with toys a lot, or treat everything like a toy as some cats do.

In addition, cats should never be exposed to polypropylene glycol as it's a cause of Heinz body anemia.

I make a strawberry cream, I got it from AndriaD here, and adjusted it slightly to use certain falvors I have (she is strictly diketone free, I'm not). I vape about 100ml of that a week. After making 200ml batches every two weeks for the last 6 weeks I finally made a 400ml batch, but I left it 0mg because I'm adjusting that a lot now, and even vaping 0mg part of the day. That was fun! Had to do 3 pours from the grad cylinder though :)

A couple others I do 100ml or more of... Dragon's Blood, Cream Fantastico from Bill's Magic Vapors recipes, and a Mothers Milk clone I got from a thread here. I'm not good at making my own from scratch, I steal 'em :)

I don't know what is up with my cat. She left all of my stuff alone until I opened that DIY stuff. Now it's under lock and key and I have to lock her out of the room when I'm mixing.

in other news, a 100ml juice would last me about 3 weeks! :D I haven't found any flavors I like that much yet. Yay tootle puffers

Good luck with your DIY adventures. I highly recommend looking into a digital scale and glass eyedroppers. After investing in a lot of other things, this is where I've arrived as my go to solution. Have fun and keep us posted on your successes. (And failures)

Look up New Amsterdam Vapes on Youtube for a great tutorial on using weight for mixing.

There's something to be said about keeping the wattage down and exercising moderation. Something I was never good at :) So don't do as I do, do as I say :) :) :)

I might have gotten there trying to reduce my nic level. It's probably better to vape less of higher nic concentrations. In fact, logically, considering the "law of the unknown" it is surely better since nic is not harmful in less than toxic doses.

Just a quick google turned up this (I'd never heard of this before)

Contribution of propylene glycol-induced Heinz body formation to anemia in cats. - PubMed - NCBI

It appears they were putting PG in cat food. IOW, that study did not seem concerned with trace quantities, like maybe the cat licked up a bit left from a spill. Seemed to take a fair dosage to start causing a problem.

If I can get a few recipes down that I like, I will definitely stock up "in case" so I can continue to vape the way I choose to with the type of gear and liquid that I prefer. Thankfully I don't vape large quantities a day so honestly if I can make a decent 50mL batch that will go a long way for me. I made myself a start recipe for a 10mL strawberry menthol, so when I get all my stuff I will get to work and see how it goes :) and I have two cats and three dogs so I will definitely make my liquid in a room behind closed doors so I lessen the chance of spills and whatnot causing problems. I also have a small child so I will definitely need to invest in some sort of case to keep it all out of reach.

@Clo. I just thought I'd mention, you can get USP grade PG at Tractor Supply for about $23 a gallon. I use wide mouth canning jars to work from with my pg and vg in them. Tractor supply also sells syringes.. look for both in the livestock section.

Great thanks! Holy cow a gallon, if I get that much if the day comes maybe I will be the Oklahoma vape version of a moonshiner. Lol.

One more point to make you feel comfortable... It is likely (or not terribly unlikely) that the commercial juice you've vaped up to now was not always mixed as precisely as you might think. I've seen a lot of complaints here about poor consistency in commercial juice. I've never, ever mixed a batch of something I was familiar with that came out bad or obviously wrong compared to what I was used to. Never had my nic come out obviously wrong. I'm careful, but not manically obsessed.

Yes I am super curious to compare my own creation to that of what I have been buying. I feel much more confident now, I'm ready to get started!!!! I do think this will be fun and interesting. Good lord my husband is going to come home from Afghanistan and think I have lost my ****! Lol. The rate I'm going lately, I will have a full blown lab in our guest bedroom. Ha ha!

A gallon of PG and VG is a smart thing to buy. You can get gallons for about $25, or $6/qt, shipped. You can easily pay $20/qt with shipping. And when you start making up samples, and maybe putting aside base mixes (nic/pg/vg ready to flavor) you can stockpile some. With your child you might not want that to get too out of hand though, at least the stuff with nic in it.

A $50 liter of 100mg nic, at 3mg, usig 15ml a day, is a 7 year supply. it's sort of a one time lifetime buy when you are ready for that. You can vape hard, unflavored, for about $50/year. The flavoring is where the money is.

My roommate accuses me of running a illicit drug lab all the time.
