First of all I must admit I hate the 510-type connection. It looks flimsy and unreliable, I've been through a lot of issues with atomizers not screwing well on mods, leaving gaps, wobbling, center pin issues, you name it! I don't even know how this became a standard so quickly, as it is far from decent.

Now I discovered that I really love hybrids, although I only own one ( a Nova mod made by a Romanian guy, CipCig, I will post pictures of it later). Solid piece of steel, easy to set up with a mesh or even with silica. I keep an eye on other systems, as the Diablo and Somnium hybrids, but to be honest, I don't think it would vape any better, it's just the GAS - Gear Aquisition Syndrome :D

So, how many of you like hybrids? I know there are always pros and cons, but I'd like to know! Please share your valuable opinions... :)

Couldn't agree more. The 510 and other similarly sized connections are carry-overs from the cigarette style setups and they work great for that size battery/atty combos. It even works well when attaching smaller attys & cartos to larger battery devices.

It's not so good when you want to connect a 22mm atty to a 22mm tube...

What I would actually like to see, is that same level of standardization apply to top cap threads... Something like a M20 thread so that you'd be able to put any atty with that connection on any PV with that connection. It would also give you the option of selecting different top caps if you want the backward compatibility with existing 510,808,901, ect attys.

A dedicated atty/pv combo (hybrid) is less appealing to me than a standardized connection that takes advantage of the full diameter of a PV.

My 2 cents...

I smile every time I pick up my Orion v2.1, been on the same wick and coil for over a month and just have to clean, add juice and vape. Funny that everyone thinks that these things would be more work than other systems. I for one have found them so much easier. Other than the coil set up and charging batteries there's not much to do. Another great byproduct is I really can't find anything new to buy...lol, because can't find anything that I could see myself using more than my current setup.

Well I also love to have multiple atty choices on the same mod (or viceversa), but again, not with the unreliable 510 connection.
At this moment, attys have become much bigger and heavier than in the old days, subsequently much more stress is put on the connection. It's had its moments of glory but IMHO it's now time to move on to something better, let's say a new standard.

How I would imagine this: maybe some inner thread on the battery tube (which should be of a standard diameter of say 22mm) and external threads on the atty, and the center - positive - pin of the atty touching directly the plus pole of the battery inside the mod, with the negative being the very atty body. I can imagine this would make a much sturdier combo and more visually appealing (no gaps between mod and atty).
Just a thought...
