Thought aliens were coming through my kitchen window ran over to find my battery welding its self to the charger gave it a swift ninja kick off the wall to find my battery looking like that and some melting on bay one on the charger now my question is is my charger still good on bay two un touched despite my better knowledge it is charging that battery fine as of now (vape or die?) any one have any experience with the plastic peeling off the cell like this before?
The upper weld mark in the picture is on the outer casing which is negative. I'm not sure from your picture, but I think there is also a weld mark on the top of the positive battery post. If this is correct what likely happened was a short between those two spots on the battery. Typically the positive contact of the charger is shaped in such a way as to make this really hard to accomplish unless the battery was out of position and the wrapper was already torn up. I suspect you would find weld marks on the charger contact too. If you don't, then I think the charger has an internal short and I would consider it bad and not use it again.
So, is the battery OK? If the charger bay got hot enough to melt plastic and that heat came from the battery, it could easily be toast. I think you charged it in which case it should make around 4.2v right after charging. Did it? What was the voltage right after the incident? What make and model of battery is it? If these batteries go too low in voltage they can become unstable. Less than 2.5v is too low for all of them. Less than 3v is too low for some of them.
As Sando said, heat shrink tubing is the correct way to fix the wrapper issue. Here's a tutorial on how to do that:
How To: Remove "Button-Top" and replace battery wrapper/jacket. You do not of course want to remove a button top, just replace the wrapper. You need that white insulator in the pictures that's shaped like a doughnut and goes around the positive battery contact.
If you have any doubt the battery is good, don't use it. If it has gone bad the right (or wrong) way it could explode on you and that can get nasty!
