Ok all, im now 8 days stinky free!!! I wasnt a lucky one as the first few days were brutal but I chain vaped and made it....Im feeling good now but im having some of the worst luck with batteries and clearomizers...

So i started with the ego batteries from apollo and ce4 that they come with. first ones went bad fast. then switched over to their copy cat vivi novas which are ok but I can never get them dialed in and the flavor is not the best. So I picked up another ce4 just for the hell of it about 3-4 days ago and its actually vaping great with big flavor...Go figure.. Then I just picked up an evod from apollo yesterday and it was vaping so freaking awesome!!!Until the end of the day when my battery died and I swapped another battery and refilled it and now the evod leaks a little, gurgles like crazy and the flavor is not the best. It even shot some juice in my mouth. And even more recently(20 minutes ago) the evod is getting pretty hot after only a few vapes. Not warm but actually pretty warm to hot so I took it off the battery and stuck it away until I get advice from someone here.

Im loving the vapor over stinkies but the last 8 days seems like I have problems everyday with something. So any advice????? Should I just change the head on the evod and see if thats the problem??? Should I just get a ce-5 as at least they are rebuildable??Any suggestions??

Also I had a battery take a poop on me so I took it back and they gave me a new one but said to just barely thread the clearo on the battery until you feel resistance on the threads as you dont want to over tighen but I was just putting them on tight enough so they dont rock while im trying to hit it. Should I be that careful with threading the clearo's on the egos. Is there a different battery I could get so I dont have to worry about crap like this. Why cant I just have a set up that vapes good and doesnt have issues everyday? Arghhhhh!!!!

Tip the Evod pointed down, remove the cap, then blow out the air tube from the bottom of the tank, then do the same for the cap assembly when a bottom coil starts to gurgle on you. Depending on the darness and sweetness of the juice you are using, about 2 days to 3 the wicks get gummed up so need cleaning, run under pretty warm water couple minutes, then let dry. Leaking, did you cross thread anything on the Evod while assembling it, could have pinched a seal, or got in at an angle. Over heating, I'd say there is a short or part of the coil touching the side of the head threading piece that screws down into the cap. Sounds to me like you need to shop somewhere else, Apollo either got a bad batch of hardware. Ego tanks, yes, only tighten down until you get some resistance, otherwise you could damage the tank pin causing a crack and a leak, or damage the battery cap which a lot of times is soft aluminum. That also could explain your tank leaking, maybe cracked the bottom cap, but a little wiggle, not a lot is okay on a tank, I generally get touching where I start feeling restistance and just a nudge more maybe 3-4 degrees more.

Evods - and other bottom coil units - have been known to leak when the juice level gets low. So top up often. Also, to clear the air tube, take the Evod off the battery, hold drip tip down (into a tissue) and blow gently until it feels clear. You don't need to to take the base off to do that.

The battery center post on most is held in with an insulating grommet. Over tightening can push the pin down slightly, so it no longer makes contact with the clearo. Or the over tightening can put the clearo mating pin up. In either instance, some careful work with a small tool, levering gently around the sides, can work the pin back into place.

I've found my T3s, Protanks and Evods all get a tad warm when I chain vape and the level is below about 1/3 left. If it gets too hot to touch, yes, there's a problem. Otherwise, probably ok.

With two batteries "failing", I suspect your're either over tightening - or not charging them fully?

ok got a few new heads for the evod and no more leaking and they are vaping great but its still getting hot at the base of the tank. Hot enough to make me worry. The post on the ego battery was pressed in a little but I pried it out enough to make a good contact and its vaping awesome but again getting a little to hot.

Anyone else have this problem? Im wondering if I keep getting bad atty heads or what.

All 4 of my EVOD's will get warm at the metal base when chain vaping. I have also had them flood when they get low which just seems odd to me but whatever. Also have had the head come loose after taking the base off for refilling.

How warm cause my evod base just got pretty warm to hot after 5-6 vapes back to back??????But great flavor and no leaking but its getting warm to hot enough to make me nervous

They will get pretty warm but I would not say its hot. Of course hot can all be relative, I work with my hands so they are pretty callused and don't transfer heat like I would think someone that works in an office all day.

Also have to think about how it works. There is a small coil getting hot enough to turn the liquid into a vapor. Remove the liquid and it will glow red.

All great suggestions. Busardo's rule of clearomizers is that if they have the potential to leak, they will leak. I agree. However, leakage can be eliminated or substantially reduced by operator use. First, make sure they are clean every other day, more or less, depending on how much you vape. A good cleaning and overnight air drying is important. Numerous videos out there on how to properly clean your device. Second, do not over tighten. I will often raise the plastic seal piece up slightly on the base and have the center post then press it down to "perfect" the seal. Third, it's very easy initially and after vaping for a while to get some e-liquid in the center channel tube. Blow into a paper towel from drip tip and base as described earlier. Additionally, a pipe cleaner down the channel can soak up the excess quite well. Fourth, keep the tank filled about 2/3 or higher for best vape. The amount of liquid does affect the vacuum in the tube, which is designed as part of the reason the bottom coil won't leak. The lower the juice level, the lower the liquid pressure and the greater chance of leakage. Keeping the tank topped off does require more refills, but will provide both a better vape and low chance of leakage.

All in all the combination of cost, ease of use, vapor, flavor, capacity, draw, etc. on the evod makes is probably the most recommended device on this forum. As an out and about device, it's hard to beat. Small, attractive, sleek, sexy, looks great on an ego...great combination. For the new vaper, this is the delivery device of choice imho. Less airy than the Protank with a draw that takes a bit to get used to. Better draw than the T3 and less leakage as well. The bottom coil (BC) virtually eliminates dry hits, making the evod position independent, meaning that you have to tilt and twirl the device to make sure the wicks are always saturated. The flavor is certainly more consistent than a top coil head. With BC, the vapor is not as warm as a top coil, which many like, but the evod is shorter than many clearomizers, so tends to be warmer than most other BC's. Heads are relatively cheap, easy to change and clean, can be rebuilt easy enough, etc. Unless I'm looking for the "best vape" for which I have plenty of alternative equipment, it's hard to beat the overall performance of the evod, all things considered. With best operator practices, the evod is a big winner imho. I haven't tried them all, but I haven't missed many either, at least on the clearomizer level. Best of luck to you. My 2 cents...

I bannished the stogies with 2x evo t 1.6 Clearo and 1100 batts and have been going strong since nil faults.
Just keep tank high on these little guys and they don't burn or clog Soon as my Vamo and other bits get here I will strip these down and give them a clean. Just right for out and about.

For any Aussies I purchased the Eagle twin starter out of a Sydney Mob
The crowd in Brisy have a good DYI starter kit available. Both worth every penny

Thanks all!!! I think I got this evod thing figured out. Ive been making sure the post on the battery is pulled out enough for contact and being careful about how tight my clearo is on the battery. i also cleaned out my tank and atty this morning, refilled and its great now. It still gets warm but not to bad.

I think im digging the evod now. Great flavor and very decent vapor production. I also think im going to try the apollo ego vv battery next week. I tried it at the store and it was pretty darn good I have to say. Im hoping that besides a few bad items ive received that apollo is a reliable vendor as they are like 10 minutes from my house. I will say customer service has been great there so that is a plus.

Im on day 11 with no stinkies!!! Still have some minor cravings but alot of it is mental I think???

Last does anyone recomend a good suplier for menthol juice? I like apollos juice but 18.95 for 30ml seems pricey to me. Its good though.

Thanks again all!!!! This vapor thing and the info on this site has potentially saved my life!!!

That's about 75 cents a ml, so it's not way out of line.

Good to hear you have it sorted out. Good customer service is worth paying a little more for. If they've been good to you so far, don't see any reason not to try their battery - as long as it's in the capacity you want, and not too inflated in price. B&Ms do have a higher overhead than online, and sometimes it's worth it just to have someone local you can talk to - and get supplies in a pinch!
