I have been avoiding this area because I was afraid I would fall in and I have. Math and I do not get along well but with the calculators I see and wonderful recipes I have been reading I am lost. I am going to place some orders for supplies and want to try just a few simple flavors to try as a raw beginner. Yes I have been lurking a bit. Does anyone have a good recipe for a simple iced tea flavor with just a hint of lemon?

My suggestion is start with one simple flavor first and read the stickies. Tea's are not a great choice to start with they are complicated to get right. Most that make tea extract there own favorite tea flavor. I have not read about to many successes with vender bought tea flavoring concentrates.

The only tea that I've enjoyed so far in my limited tea adventures was TFA's Earl Grey, which tastes mostly like Bergamont. I've heard good things about Capella's Sweet Tea and TFA's Green Tea, but I've yet to try either of them.

Just a few things to keep in mind. You'll need a handful of 1ml syringes, lots of sample bottles (I use the 10ml bottles from WizardLabs), VG, PG, and nicotine. With that alone, you can make unflavored nicotine at your level and save immense amounts of money. You jump down the rabbit hole face first when you start to include flavors. There are many vendors out there and none of them are perfect imo. Some popular ones off the top of my head would be Capellas, TFA (the flavors apprentice), Hangsen, FlavourArt, LorAnns, and FlavorWest. Visit their respective threads to get an idea of which flavoring agents people appreciate the most regarding each specific vendor.

For example, I like some of Hangsens tobaccos, some of TFA's "add-ons" (menthol, bavarian cream, etc), some FlavorWest fruits, and some Capellas sweets. Everyone is different though, and some people may hate every flavor that I love. I think you should research the threads for these vendors (Ex "The Hangsen Thread), and pick some of the flavors that most people agree are tasty. Best of luck to ya!

Most of the vapes I like are complex flavors...bakery items, coffees, and teas. I do like earl grey and I can see where mixing in a black tea with a bit of cream and a touch of sweeter would be good.

Since everyone is being so helpful...if you were to suggest 5 flavors to start with (no tobaccos, or menthol) what would you suggest?

Well to suggest 5 complex flavors is pretty difficult, as most complex juices are a combination of simple recipes. I would say to start off with some basics that you listed -

TFA Bavarian Cream - A good creamy flavor that lends itself well to bakery flavors.

VZ SC (Vaping Zone Super Concentrated) Coffee - At 2.5% it pretty much tastes like black coffee. A good base to make your own flavored coffees.

TFA Earl Grey - As stated early, tastes mostly like Bergamont, which is a good thing imo. Start at 5% and work your way up to see where you like it.

Graham Cracker - I have both the TFA version and the Capella version and use them for different purposes. Capella to me tastes much more sweet and dessert like, whereas the TFA version tastes more "crunchy" if that makes sense. Graham cracker can be a nice addition/base to dessert/bakery recipes.

TFA Vanillin 10% - This is basically vanillin crystals diluted at a 10% solution into PG. I use this between .5 and 2.5% in particular recipes to help aid in the sweetness department, and also to bring out chocolates. Since you're looking for coffees and bakery recipes, I figured this would be a helpful aid in the future after you start developing your own recipes. Try it at 1% in a coffee, chocolate, or bakery recipe.

Hi KJAthena,

I thought I would share a simple recipe. I haven't tried it yet, but I will as soon as my new flavors arrive. This is suppose to be the original Grant's Vanilla custard recipe he posted in another forum before he decided to sell it.

Capella's Vanilla custard 15%
The perfumers Apprentice Dulce de leche 2%
Em or sweetener 1-2 drops per 10 ml

Steep 21 days. It will turn bright orange.

People rave about this recipe and it seems pretty simple

Here are a few that are super simple I have tried.

Vapingzone super concentrate gourmet flavors:

Mocha: 5 drops per 10 ml steep 24 to 48 hours
or
Sweet orange: 5 drops per 10 ml steep 24 to 48 hours
or
Tirimasu: 3 drops per 10 ml steep 24 to 48 hours
or
chocolate: 5 drops per 10 ml steep 24 to 48 hours

Flavour Art cola at 5% steep 24 hours

The perfumer's apprentice banana cream 2.5% steep 24 hours

Oh nice. What % did you mix your FA at? I don't have that one. I have the TFA Black Tea but it smells like lemon being freshly squeezed over lawn clippings, so I'm hesitant.

You're being much to kind to the TFA Black Tea, I thought it smelled and tasted like Skunk .....

FA Black Tea 2%
