There are some videos on youtube for various methods. One thing I've done is a variation on the boiling thing. Took a small bowl and put some water in it and heated in the microwave. Took that out and plopped the cartos in and soaked for a few mins and swished around. Then took a syringe and and forced more of the water thru the filler. Blow out excess and let sit for a day to dry.

I rinse with water, then soak them in vodka before rinsing them out again with water. Blow out the water, then set out to dry for a day.

Does that get all the previous flavor and scent out? That's the problem I'm still having. And the setting out to dry for a day didn't work for me. I ended up with some water still in the bottom, which I didn't realize until I put the juice in and it was all watered down tasting. What I do now is set them out for a day and then put them in the oven at 175 degrees for an hour. That seems to dry them completely.

But again, I still haven't figured out how to get all the taste/smell from the previous juice out.

I want to add that I rinse them under running water from the faucet first, then soak in vodka, and then run the water from the faucet through them again. I blow through them more than once during the drying process. Sometimes I speed up the drying process by using a blow dryer. I hadn't thought of using the oven.

I think the alcohol takes out most of the taste/smell. But really strong flavors like menthol can still remain to a certain extent. I usually just make sure I refill with the same flavors in the menthol ones.

I usually just use a cartomizer until I kill it lol. But when I do clean them out, its usually to use another flavor in it.

My method is pulling the rubber end cap off, then sticking the cart in one side of a tube (about a foot long) I found to fit it snugly at the local hardware store. I'd then fill a large glass with hot water and use a pull/push method...I'd suck the hot water through the cart into the tube and blow it back out repeatedly. Then I'll blow out the excess water from the cart, put a plug in its battery end and fill it up with vodka and let it sit awhile. I'll wash the cart out again, blow it out and either let it sit to dry or commence to filling it with my favorite juice.

I tried boiling carts to rejuivenate them a few times, but I didn't really notice any difference. Today I pulled apart a cart and the coil was covered with carmelized juice...it just flaked off. So, I don't see how washing it would get rid of that as it wouldn't have a way to escape the cartomizer. But, that was from a cart I over used and never really washed anyways.

Mr. Hyde, do you feel that the vodka will dissolve the carmelized juice you found in that cart or are you suggesting that cleaning will not resolve that effect of cart usage?

Frick, I am cleaning a few carts of mine because I need more blanks. The carts are not heavily used and the juice that was in them is something that I don't want. For instance, I got a sample of a Cream flavor that literally tasted like vomit. I don't want to just throw the cart away but there is no way in hell I am going to power vape through that juice so I can use it for something else. Also, I have a bunch of carts that had prefilled flavors in them and I want to use them for other flavors. So, they only have one use so far.

Well in the case of that particular Cream, I couldn't think of a single flavor that would taste good when mixed with vomit.

I also had three carts that were VERY perfumey: two mixes of my own creation from Gourmet Vapors that are unvapable over a week later, and Smooth 8 from Halo. I just couldn't bring myself to vape on a juice mixed with cologne.

But I get your point and I have done that in some cases when I wanted to switch a cart over to a different flavor and I at least tolerated the existing flavor.

No, the vodka will just help to get rid of the old flavor. In my experience, once enough juice has carmelized the coil...its no longer salvagable. Some people use rubbing alcohol, but that's some toxic stuff and even though it evaporates...I don't trust it.
