Welcome to ECF & congratulations! And thank you for joining our enormous little group of survivors! I too have spent nearly a half-century killing myself with cigarettes & it's nice to finally be fighting back with something that will actually work. I see miracles in various areas of my life every day but I must say, finding this forum and watching what PVs are doing to rescue folks from self-destruction is absolutely amazing. God Bless, and Happy vaping! :vapor:

Thank you for the welcome. It now takes three remotes to watch a movie on the tv. I usually give up in frustration and go read a book instead. And NOT on a kindle.
Welcome GrammaCool! Congratulation on finding your way to this wonderful forum and quitting smoking! I smoked for close to 30 years and tried everything available to quit but always failed - until now! I agree about setting an example. No one can force or convince anyone to quit as we all well now. Your hubby will follow you or not. Have some yummy juices though to tempt him and leave one lying around hehe...
Oh and as for your TV, make a cheat sheet. That's what I did, as it takes FOUR remotes to watch a movie in my house and everything is in Japanese!!!! I numbered each remote with magic marker on the back (1,2,3,4) but stickers will do fine too. Then I made the cheat sheet.
1. Press button X on remote 3
2. Press button Y on remote 1
3. Scroll menu and click on X
4. Press enter
5. Press bitten B on remote 1
Etc. Etc.

Then I double checked that everything worked perfectly. Switched off everything, checked again. All fine. I printed it out and glued to pretty craft paper and glued onto card stock, (on the back I have my top 10 TV channel names and numbers) then I laminated it. Next I punched a hole in the corner and threaded a pretty accessory. Now it lies on the coffee table, it's easy to wipe clean, looks pretty and has it's home next to the remotes. It is also useful for when we have guests and pet sitters staying over!

Thanks for the link, Stosh. Boy, I could relate to a lot of those stories. I'll be 65 next month and have tried countless times to give up smoking. The problem is: I liked it. Well, okay, not the mess, the smell, the cost...but I did enjoy that cigarette! I had my first cigarette when I was 14 years old. We lived on a sheep farm (ranch would sound so much cooler, but it was really just 40 head of sheep). In the summer we had to rotate pastures (sheep are hard on them) so we took the flock down a dirt road to another patch of grass. Problem is that there was a coyote invasion that year so the sheep had to be watched constantly. My dad would leave me with the flock and two unfiltered Camel cigarettes as pament and to help pass the time. I know.....I can see jaws dropping. I'm sure my Dad didn't mean any harm, and I certainly don't blame him for my lifelong habbit. Back then cigarettes didn't have the bad rap that they do today. They were great for wasp stings. And remember those old films of NASA where all the scientists had a pocket protector and a cigarette going? It's so much different now. But I wish I had discovered e-cigs a long time ago. Still, better late than never. Day Four for me (which is a record!) and I haven't had a single craving. Now it seems like my main addiction is to this Forum! Your kind words and testimonials give me strength.
